Applicant Qualifications
LSE requires a few general qualifications of all applicants:

  • must be responsible, reliable, flexible, and confident;

  • able to work well with others;

  • good communication, planning and organizational skills

  • must be able to prioritize tasks/projects effectively and organize workload

  • possess a strong interest and willingness to support the LSE philosophy and participate in LSE team development opportunities (retreats, training, staff meetings, etc.)

  • strongest consideration will be given to applicants with a GPA above 2.50.

Additional intern qualifications include:

  • able to work independently, take initiative and be a strong team player; and possibly work evenings and weekends

  • training, development, and programming skills desirable, or at least willingness to learn

Additional Campus Center programming coordinator qualifications include:

  • Coordinator must be at least a part-time student (2 undergraduate credits), have at least 2 semesters remaining, be in good academic standing with cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.25 or higher, and be able to work a minimum of 10 hours per week during the academic year.

  • The Coordinator must be able to work without direct supervision.


Job Requirements of all Internships
Nearly all internships are required to

  • Assist in developing and maintaining program budget

  • Assist in developing marketing strategies and work closely with marketing team to publicize events

  • Develop, chair and meet regularly with program committee(s) to assist with program planning as needed

  • Conduct assessment and evaluation of program and provide recommendations for future endeavors

  • Assist in developing service and leadership components of LSI library and suite resources and write articles as needed for the campus newspaper

All academic year positions usually begin the week before classes start with approximately 3 days of training and work 10-12 hours per week during the academic year.

Campus Center Programming Board Coordinators are required to

  • Maintain an accurate filing system within the office.

  • Submit the necessary information (Press Kits) to the Promotions Coordinator in a timely fashion.

  • Negotiate performance contract with professional agents and/or artists.

  • Responsible for assuring that all points of the contract and rider have been met for both parties.

  • Attend every event sponsored by their respective programming area.

  • Maintain an exceptionally accommodating relationship with the artist(s) during their visit to SNC by greeting and remaining available to them throughout the show until the end of the evening.

  • Maintain an accurate account of their respective programming Budget.

  • Prepare programming budget for the following fiscal year with the aid of the Assistant Student Manager.

  • Attend all staff meetings.

  • Submit a written evaluation of their programming Area to the Student Manager and supervisor(s) at the end of the academic year.

  • Attend the NACA (National Association of Campus Activities) Regional Conference each spring - approximately 3 days and 3 nights away from campus (2 school days).

  • Attend the annual Fall Retreat for two days prior to the start of the semester. Usually the Thursday/Friday before classes start.

  • Attend other retreats and staff development meetings as requested.


Job Descriptions for LSE and Campus Center

Support Positions

Aerobics Instructor (academic yr)
Develop and facilitate weekly aerobics programs on specific areas of expertise (jazzercise, step aerobics, low-impact, etc.). Includes attending an Aerobic training course, instructing classes as scheduled and be available to substitute for other instructors, maintaining own fitness and motivating others to do the same. Creativity with choreography and fitness programming desirable. Campus Center Building Manager (academic yr)
Responsible for the efficient operations of the Campus Center. Opening and Closing of the Campus Center and provide constant surveillance and enforcement of building policies. Assisting with set up of events/programs, and provide support services to all areas of the Campus Center. Some housekeeping duties are also required.

LSE Office Assistant (summer)
Provides administrative support in the planning and implementation stages of Summer Orientation and the First Year Experience programs. Includes maintaining reception area in a professional and friendly manner; providing clerical support (typing, filing, copying, database entry); scheduling meetings; and running errands as needed. Experience with such software packages as Microsoft Word and Excel or strong willingness to learn desirable. Position does extend into one of the office assistant positions during the academic year (please see that listing).

LSE Office Assistant (academic yr)
Manage projects during the academic year, providing administrative logistic support to programs. Also includes maintaining reception area in a professional and friendly manner; providing clerical support; scheduling meetings; and running errands.. The summer position provides administrative support in the planning and implementation stages of Summer Orientation and the First Year Experience programs. Reports directly to the Office Manager of LSI. Experience with such software packages as Microsoft Word and Excel or strong willingness to learn desirable.

LSI Internships

Campus Center Operations Intern (academic yr)
Supervise operation assistants and assist in managing Campus Center operations and programming. Includes: selecting, training and supervising operation assistants; providing supervision and accountability of room set ups and equipment needs; enforcing all building regulations and coordinating Campus Center programs as needed. Work with Make a Difference Day Committee. Must have proficient knowledge of the Campus Center Information and Recreation Desk functions: cash bag transfers, mail center functions, and various Information and Recreation Desk services that are offered. Reports directly to the Assistant Director of the Campus Center.

First Year Experience Intern (full year position)
Assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation stages of Summer Orientation and the First Year Experience (FYE) programs, and provide support and direction for the FYE Mentors. Includes: providing administrative support for Summer and January Orientation; co-developing the First Year Experience program; co-facilitating training and development for the Orientation and FYE Mentor teams; and serving on the Orientation Planning and FYE Committees. Position starts in January working 2nd semester along side the current FYE Intern.

Graphic Design Intern (academic yr)
Assist in the graphic design and layout of program publicity and other marketing projects of the Campus Center, Department of Leadership, Service & Engagement, Cultural Diversity, and student organizations. Includes: designing various items (posters, stationary, sweatshirts, logos, etc.) as requested; assisting in coordination and layout of special projects, and actively participating on planning and brainstorming meetings of department planning committees regarding marketing of events. Additional qualifications include understanding basic layout techniques and experience with Illustrator and Photoshop. Working knowledge of Quark Express software helpful. Applicants must present portfolio of work at interview.

Leadership Intern-2-(academic year)
Coordinate leadership programs and services that assist students to better understand the process of leadership as well as new program initiatives. Could include co-coordinating Creating Excellent Outcomes, Norbertine Leadership Awards (Nubbies), Emerging Leaders, Leadership Scholars in Residence, and/or the leadership certificate program; facilitating and/or designing student workshops and training. This internship is adapted to meet the needs and talents of the intern and the department. Reports directly to the Associate Director of New Student Programs or the Associate Director of Leadership & Service.

Ropes Challenge Course Internship (full year)
Will provide the successful candidate with experience in three general areas: Ropes course program facilitation, Client sales and scheduling, and program logistics and record keeping. Major responsibilities include 1) facilitate team building and low ropes curriculums to SNC student groups, 2) recruit and lead a team of SNC student facilitators, 3) schedule SNC student groups on the ropes course, 4) provide planning, set-up and take-down logistics for SNC student groups, and 5) facilitate community groups as needed. Internship begins June 1, 2005 and ends
May 15, 2006. June 1-August 28, full time position split between Team Leadership Center (TLC) in Sturgeon Bay and SNC Ropes Course. 40
hrs /wk with pay range of $7-$9/hour based on previous education/work experience. August 29 – May 15, part-time position, averaging 10 hours/week at $6.25/hr. during the school year, primarily at SNC. All necessary training is provided. Must have transportation for some summer work in Sturgeon Bay. Summer housing negotiable. Service Events Internship (academic yr)
Coordinate 2-3 campus wide service events and one other program to be determined. Assist in other campus programming and service efforts as needed. Reports directly to the Associate Director of Leadership and Service.

Service Trips Internship (academic yr)
Coordinate alternative break service trips for SNC students and assist in continued development for a campus service trip program. Includes coordinating and planning service trip logistics; recruiting, selecting and training trip leaders; coordinating trip participant recruitment, selection, education, reflection and evaluation; and overseeing trip fund raising efforts. Reports directly to the Associate Director of Leadership & Service.

Student Involvement Internship (academic yr)
Assist in providing organizational development opportunities for all recognized SNC student organizations and management of the Student Organizational Resource Room in the Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center. Includes: organizing and facilitating bi-annual Organization Access meetings; assisting with projects designed to improve the atmosphere, services and resources available in the Organizational Resource Room; assisting with the planning and facilitation of Risk Management Workshop and Organizational Transition Workshop; provide peer advising to student organizations and act as liaison between student leaders, advisors and staff. Reports directly to the Director of Leadership, Service & Engagement and the Campus Center.

M3C Citizen Scholar Fellowship (academic yr)
The M3C Fellows are a team of first-year students committed to community service and leadership development. Students accepted into this program serve 300 hours in the Greater Green Bay Area Community and in their home communities as AmeriCorps Citizen-Scholar Fellows. Upon completion of their 300 hours of service, M3C Fellows receive a $1000 Education Award form AmeriCorps.

Campus Center Programming Board Coordinator Positions

Campus Center Programming Board Student Manager
Responsible for the smooth operation of the Board (including supervision, policy development, coordinator hiring and training, and leading weekly board meetings) and serves as the representative to other departments, student organizations and various committees. The Student Manager should have a basic knowledge of programming to assist the programming staff where and when needed. Works with Campus Center Management to coordinate and prepare weekly schedules and payroll for the Board. Programming duties include bringing in a comedian for the large act each spring, organizing Campus Center Holiday Programming. and assuming the responsibilities, or appoint another Board member to do so, of any position vacated should this occur, until vacancy can be filled.

Campus Center Programming Board Assistant Student Manager
Responsible for the smooth running of the Board finances and office, including assisting coordinators with their budgets and maintaining a productive working environment. Assists the Student Manager in programming efforts, and specifically oversees Campus Center Films programming and facilitates Week of Welcome programming.

Club/Coffeehouse Coordinator
Responsible for bringing music that is ahead of the trend and outside the norm to campus. The area utilizes a combination of national acts and local talent with the focus being on smaller acts. The coordinator oversees the selection, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of programs in the Club/Coffeehouse area (4-5 per semester).

Issues & Ideas/Homecoming Coordinator
Implements programs to educate while entertaining. The programs encompass lectures and mini courses about different people, places, and points of view. The programs should deal with issues that currently interest students. The Coordinator oversees the selection, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of programs in the Issues & Ideas area (2-3 per semester) and serves as a resource for the SNC Speakers Committee. He /she will also co-coordinate (along with RHA and SGA) SNC Homecoming --creating the theme, promoting the events, organizing groups, and scheduling events for the week of Homecoming.

Promotions/Graphic Design Coordinator
Provides the campus with an image of the Board, and promotes all events put on by it. Promotes everything happening in all the areas of the Board and maintains a positive image for the Board as a whole. Works closely with the Public Relations Area, LSE Graphic Design Intern, and LSE/CC webmaster. Specific duties include preparing all creative promotion and design, and working closely with each programming board coordinator on their pr needs, developing a weekly Times ad and a semester calendar of events as well as updating the LCD pr boards. Must have working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Special Events Coordinator
Responsible for programming comedians, jugglers, magicians, and variety programs. These programs provide students with the opportunity to experience a different type of entertainment. Also develops and implements Fine Arts programming in conjunction with Theater Department and/or events at the Wiedner. Bring in programs for Family Weekend, Junior Knights and Days, and Recess Day.

Travel and Recreation Coordinator
Responsible for programming off-campus trips, recreation tournaments, health and wellness classes and floor hockey intramural league--providing students with adventure, wellness and entertainment. Oversees the selection, implementation, promotion and evaluation of programs (about 6 per semester). Must implement the SNC travel and liability policies in all programming and follow SNC trip guidelines. Works closely with the Campus Center recreation desk to program for the students.
