Scripture Reflection
by Sandy Murphy, Campus Minister
In today’s Gospel from John, we see Jesus express his anger in the temple. All four evangelists talk about Jesus making a scene in the temple during some point in his ministry. This reading reminds me on one of my best friends from college, Jodi. One of the things I first remember admiring about her was just how outraged she could get when things were different than she thought they should be. I was/am not a person who is that volatile. I loved the fact that she could let her passions out. I think that Jesus in the temple did that same thing – let his passion for injustice be expressed and seen by many. His example is a true challenge to me to stand up and share my own passions and pains for the injustices that are happening in the world today. Jesus calls each of us to stand up for the least among us. What is your call this day?
