Professional profile
Bradford Ellis, Assistant Professor of Spanish, has been at St. Norbert College since 2002. He teaches all levels of the Spanish curriculum and specializes in literature, culture, and society of early modern Spain.
His research interests include the narrative prose of Miguel de Cervantes and María de Zayas, the Moriscos, and female empowerment and subversion in counter-reformation Spain. Recently he has presented papers at Cambridge University, Brigham Young University and Georgetown University, and is a member of the Executive Board of GEMELA (Grupo de Estudios sobre la Mujer de España y Las Américas).
Current scholarly projects include an article on Christian/Muslim Hybridity in Zayas’s
Desengaños amorosos (forthcoming) and a book project entitled
Slaves, Sorcery, and Subversion: Morisco Women in the Literature and Society of Early Modern Spain.
