Requirements
Admission policy
St. Norbert College welcomes applications from all ethnic, religious and racial backgrounds. All applications are carefully and thoroughly reviewed. We are committed to making a fair and timely decision on your application. Please heed the following instructions to help us with that process.
Admission requirements
- Baccalaureate or equivalent recognized degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 3.0 grade point average (or previous graduate work with a 3.25 GPA). Official transcripts (not student copies) from all colleges or universities must be forwarded to the director of the Master of Science in Education program. Official transcripts should be submitted directly by the colleges or universities involved.
- Wisconsin (or other state) Department of Public Instruction teacher certification or other documentation of teaching experience, and successful teaching experience.
- Three letters of recommendation attesting to qualifications and potential for graduate study.
- A brief statement written by the applicant stating goals to be accomplished while completing the degree. Why is this program important to your further development as a teacher/leader?
Upon review of the application information, the potential candidate may be invited to interview with the director and other St. Norbert College education faculty for acceptance into the program.
Criteria to accept graduate transfer credits
- Official transcript mailed by the college or university to the director of the Master of Science in Education program
- 2 three-credit courses (both in same area of study) or some other combination to equal 6 graduate credits
- Graduate credit(s) from an accredited college or university
- Evidence of substantive academic outcomes such as: a) written assignments, b) completed projects and c) other evidence submitted by applicant
To have the credits transferred, all four above criteria must be met. All transfer credits must be approved by the beginning of the first courses EDUC 511 Critical Issues in Education and EDUC 512 Technology, Computers and Education. Upon review of the application information, the director may speak with you for more details about your area of interest for a concentration.
Degree requirements
- Successful advocacy project - Advocacy project receives a pass/fail grade
- Maintaining 3.0 grade point average or above
- Successful completion of all core courses
- Completion of 6 hours of concentration
