Men of Distinction
The Men of Distinction group is a program that assists male
multicultural students in their transition into college through a year
long series of meetings exploring issues of race and gender. Along with
the weekly meetings , men engaged with the program will be given a
mentor (a professional male from the De Pere, Green Bay and greater Fox
Cities area) that will serve as a role model, ally and advocate for the
participants. Mentors will also help participants by challenging and
assisting them with issues they face as they emerge into adulthood.
Students involved will learn to challenge current social norms as well
as develop a positive sense of identity. Participants will gain
leadership skills that will enable them to be successful in their
current educational life as well as their future family and community
living.
The Men of Distinction program is a collaborative effort between Multicultural Student Services and the Men's Initiative. For more information contact: Bridgit Martin.
