Professional profile
Aside from her teaching responsibilities, Heather Schmidt has been involved with the St. Norbert College Young Artist Workshops (an arts program for children with special needs) since the program began. With the program, she has served as a music teacher, the music coordinator and as the music specialist in the Adaptive Assistive Technology computer lab.
Mrs. Schmidt can be heard in a performing role as the principal flutist on two compact disc recordings cut by the American Promenade Orchestra. Through the years she has served as the principal flutist with the Green Bay Symphony, with the pit orchestra of the national touring musical theatre productions at the Weidner Center, with the St. Norbert community band, along with numerous other bands, orchestras and chamber ensembles. She has been a featured soloist on a subscription concert with the Green Bay Symphony, the St. Norbert community band and many other performing groups in the area.
Mrs. Schmidt was also the featured piccolo soloist on the St. Norbert band tours to Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Austria. She is an active guest soloist, clinician and recitalist. She also teaches at St. Matthew School in Allouez, where she is responsible for pre-school through eighth grade general music classes.
