Professional profile
James Robl has studied with percussion legends Bobby Christian and Al Payson.
He has taught and adjudicated throughout the United States and Canada. He has been a clinician for the Wisconsin Chapter of Percussive Arts Society, a judge for Drum Corps International and head of percussion faculty for The Saskatchewan School of the Arts.
Jim has played with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, was principal percussionist in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Chicago Opera Theater, Elgin Symphony and American Ballet Theater Chicago Tour. Jim is currently principal percussionist for the Fox Valley Symphony and principal in the Green Bay Symphony. He also spent 7 years as house percussionist for the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.
Jim has played for numerous pop artists including The Moody Blues, Aaron Nevill, Phillip Bailey (Earth, Wind & Fire), Michael McDonald (Doobie Brothers), Sheena Easton, Anne Murray, Dionne Warwick and The Temptations.
