Linda Cook

Professional profile
Dr. Linda Klein Cook joined the faculty of St. Norbert College in the fall of 1993 after a successful freelance career in New York City. Her most memorable musical experiences include recording Stravinsky's Rite of Spring and Symphony of Psalms with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, conducted by Robert Craft, touring China with New York's Grande Band, and playing Three Penny Opera on Broadway with Sting!  Dr. Cook has also been a member of the Wisconsin Brass Quintet, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and Manhattan Chamber Orchestra.

Dr. Cook received her Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and later pursued both a Master's degree and D.M.A. from UW - Madison in trumpet performance.  She has had the pleasure of studying trumpet with John Aley, Chris Gekker, Don Whitaker, and Louis Ranger.  Dr. Cook currently teaches music theory and history, applied trumpet and horn, world music, music appreciation, brass methods, supervises student teachers, and directs the pep band.  She has held previous teaching positions at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, and Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi.

In 2003, Dr. Cook was the recipient of the Leonard Ledvina award for excellence in teaching and was nominated for Educator of the Year in 2006 and 2010.

She is an active clinician in Wisconsin and was chosen as an adjudicator for the Madison Symphony Orchestra's "Final Forte" Competition broadcast live on Wisconsin Public Radio and Wisconsin Public Television in 2010.  She is a member of the Wisconsin Music Educators Association, International Trumpet Guild, International Horn Society, and was a founding member of the Historical Brass Society.
