No stranger to the classroom or the stage, Bethany Thier has a wide range of abilities in the music world. Ms. Thier joined the St. Norbert faculty in the Spring of 2007, and has since taught courses in World Music, Aural Skills, Vocal Jazz, and studio instruction in voice and piano. In addition to teaching at St. Norbert, Ms. Thier has a private voice and piano studio, is a choir conductor and liturgist for an area church, and is frequently a guest artist for various organizations including the Green Bay Girl Choir and the Boys and Girls Club of America.
Being an established private voice teacher, she was awarded the prestigious Chicago Opera Theater Teaching Fellowship in 2006. During her tenure as a teaching fellow, she conducted master classes, directed opera scenes programs, and gave private instruction in the Chicago area.
Ms. Thier's role credits include: Emily in the contemporary opera, The Yellow Wallpaper, a Chicago premier in 2006, La Bergére in Ravel's charming opera, L'Enfant et les Sortilèges, Nannetta in Verdi's Falstaff, Constance in Poulenc's Dialogue of the Carmelites, Laurie in Copland's The Tender Land, and Museteta in Puccini's La Boheme. Bethany also has given professional recitals at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, St. Norbert College, and the Chicago Cultural Society.
