Celebrating our 47th season
St. Norbert College Music Theatre presents two musicals each summer, performed by some of the top talent in the local community. Scheduled this year are
Respect, A Musical Journey of Women and
A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum .
Music Theatre was organized by Dudley Birder in 1962 to present Broadway musicals each summer using local amateur performers. Since the first musical,
Little Mary Sunshine , Music Theatre has presented a total of 72 productions with over 685 performances before a total audience of approximately 500,000. It is the oldest musical theater organization in Wisconsin and is very much a fixture in the community.
Music Theatre functions as an arm of St. Norbert College ’s community outreach program and relies primarily on local volunteer talent along with a small professional staff. It is impossible to exactly ascertain the number of community resident volunteers who have participated in one or more productions. Hundreds have taken part . . . actors, singers, dancers, costumers, designers, hair and make-up personnel, stage hands, ushers, parent helpers, ticket office personnel, etc . . . a conservative estimate would be 3,500 to 4,000. |
