“Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!”   Forum is a non-stop laughfest in which a crafty slave, in exchange for freedom, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan for his young master.

Fast-paced, witty, irreverent and considered one of the funniest musicals ever written, Forum opened on Broadway in 1964 featuring Zero Mostel and in 2004 received awards for best musical, best book, best musical revival and best actor (Nathan Lane) in a two-year Broadway revival.   The book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart (writer of television’s famous “Mash” episodes), with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, combines the comedic situations of the Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville – a musical comedy that absolutely entertains.

Forum will be directed by James P. Birder with musical direction by Dudley Birder and choreography by Alicia Birder.   This presentation of Music Theatre will play 7 performances in the 700-seat Walter Theater , July 17-27
