The St. Norbert College Habitat for Humanity group sponsors a campus-wide event called Shack-a-Thon. This event helps create awareness about homelessness and will raise money for the St. Norbert College/Habitat for Humanity chapter. The money raised from Shack-a-Thon will go towards fundraising for De Pere Build IV, a program through which St. Norbert College will be building a house in the greater Green Bay area. The plan is to break ground in late fall of 2009.
The cost to take part in Shack-a-Thon is $25 for a group of four or more, or $5 per person for a group of three or fewer.
Shack construction will begin at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 and the Shack-a-Thon proper will begin at 7 p.m. in front of the St. Norbert College Campus Center with speakers, vigil and music. Student groups from St. Norbert will build shacks out of their own materials or materials provided. Students will live in the shack during the night. This event will wrap up on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7 a.m.
