Neilson's piece was a sculpture made from books that had never been taken off the shelves in the old Todd Wehr Library at St. Norbert College from 1975-2008.
"I began to methodically address each page of the heretofore unopened books and as I tore each page by hand," said Neilson. "Essentially, these books were not thought to be of any more value to the collection or library, so I rescued them before they headed to the recycle bin. This allows me to be a bit "greener" in my application and gives the rejected books a second chance to be noticed."
The competition also awarded a second place and five honorable mentions. Rev. Neilson also won "best in show" three years ago.
