St. Norbert College Music Theatre announces auditions for "Man of La Mancha" and "The Phantom of the Opera"

Auditions for the St. Norbert College Music Theatre production of "Man of La Mancha" will be held in the college's Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts, 315 Third Street, De Pere, April 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. The musical will be performed in the 180-seat Webb Theatre. There will be nine performances of "Man of La Mancha": 8 p.m. June 17; 7:30 p.m. June 18, 24, 25 and 30; and 3 p.m. matinees June 19, 22, 26 and 29.

The musical calls for a cast of 12 men and five women, all with good singing and acting skills. "Man of La Mancha" rehearsals begin in May and will usually be held on Friday evenings and during the day on Saturday and Sunday.

Music Theatre's second production, "The Phantom of the Opera," will begin rehearsals on June 13. These rehearsals are held Monday through Friday evenings. Auditions for "Phantom" are scheduled for May 31 and June 1. Ten performances are scheduled: July 28-August 7.

Since rehearsals for both shows will be scheduled to seldom overlap, it will be possible for some performers to participate in both musicals.

Many individuals are also needed backstage working on costumes, make-up, props and performance-running crew. Those interested in working backstage are encouraged to come to auditions and sign up.
