Katherine Flesch, a May 2016 graduate of St. Norbert College, was awarded a Phi Kappa Phi fellowship worth $5,000.

Flesch, from Sun Prairie, Wis., was one of 51 selected nationally to receive the award given to Phi Kappa Phi members entering their first year of graduate school or professional study. Flesch plans to attend UW-Madison's School of Pharmacy in the fall.

Selection for the fellowship award is based on the applicant's promise of success in graduate or professional study, including academic achievement, service and leadership experience, letters of recommendation, work sample, personal statement and career goals, and acceptance at an approved graduate or professional program.

Flesch graduated from the Honors Program at St. Norbert College Summa Cum Laude.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi has chapters on more than 300 college and university campuses in North America and the Philippines. Approximately 32,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni are initiated into the society each year. Its mission is to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others. Benefits of membership in Phi Kappa Phi include academic prestige, the ability to apply for a variety of scholarships and grants, and discounts from the society's partner companies.
