Students, faculty and staff of St. Norbert College will celebrate and serve on "Make It a Day On, Not a Day Off," the college's Martin Luther King Jr. day of service on Monday, Jan. 16.

The event involves a day of service to the local community, during which members of the St. Norbert community will teach elementary students about King's message of respect for others and assist area social service agencies.

Roughly 40 student-athletes from the men's basketball team and women's hockey team at St. Norbert will conduct educational sessions in elementary schools including Westwood (8:45-9:45 a.m.), Notre Dame in De Pere (8:15-9:15 a.m.). Green Bay has no school on Martin Luther King Day.

From 10 a.m. to noon, college community members will be at area social service agencies including the St. Vincent de Paul store, Paul's Pantry, St. John's Homeless Shelter, Einstein Project and Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
