From St. Norbert College, February 9, 2017
by Matthew Matuszak, matthew.matuszak@snc.edu, 920-403-3089

St. Norbert College will host Maureen O'Connell for its Killeen Chair of Theology & Philosophy Lecture Series on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. The lecture will take place in the Fort Howard Theater of the F. K. Bemis International Conference Center on the college campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

As part of the 2016-17 Killeen Lecture Series, which focuses on economic justice in modern times, O'Connell will lecture on "Stepping Out on Faith: Economic Justice Through Community Organizing." O'Connell is the chair and associate professor of religion at LaSalle University.

Established in 1984, the Killeen Chair of Theology & Philosophy stresses the importance of theology and philosophy in a Catholic liberal arts education, highlighting the commitment of St. Norbert College to provide an education that is personally, intellectually and spiritually challenging. Named after Abbott Sylvester Michael Killeen, O.Praem., chancellor of the college from 1967 to 1970, the Killeen Chair provides a fuller understanding of theological and philosophical issues by bringing scholars to campus in fields ranging from biology and psychology to economics and political science.
