Robert and Carol Bush Vocal Music Award recipients announced

The Dudley Birder Chorale of St. Norbert College announced senior students Kevin Klein (Hortonville High School) and Paul Halverson (Notre Dame Academy) as the recipients of the Robert and Carol Bush Vocal Music Awards for 2006. They will each be presented an award of $500 at the Chorale's performance of "America Sings" at the St. Norbert College Walter Theatre on April 28 at 7:30 p.m.

The students' vocal music teachers, Shelley Norton and Teresa Schmidt, will also receive an award of $500 each, and their schools, Hortonville High School and Notre Dame Academy, will each be presented $300 for their choral libraries.

Robert and Carol Bush have established the endowed award for the Dudley Birder Chorale to promote vocal music in high schools. The recipients are selected from high schools that are located in communities represented by membership in The Dudley Birder Chorale. These communities include high schools from the counties of Brown, Outagamie, Kewaunee, Shawano, Door, Manitowoc and Oconto.

Ten high school students, recommended by their teachers as the outstanding vocal student in their school, competed. Judges were Kent Paulsen, Betty Dunne, Charles Hagen and Dudley Birder.
