Voss Leadership Award

Cassandra Voss (Sept. 18, 1985-May 21, 2007) was a member of the St. Norbert College Class of 2008, pursuing a double major in English and Women’s and Gender Studies with an Art minor. She died in an automobile accident on May 21, 2007. Cassandra was a beloved member of our community whose spirit lives on in a variety of ways.

Cassandra was an extraordinary student. In addition to receiving many academic awards, she was on the Dean’s List every semester at St. Norbert College. She presented more academic work at conferences than most undergraduate students. Cassandra was a treasured member of Sigma Tau Delta who received much applause when she read one of her poems at the national conference. She also attended several  other conferences including the Women's Studies Conference at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cassandra completed a Women's and Gender Studies Summer Program in London through Michigan State University. She planned to study abroad in South Africa in fall of 2007 with a focus on global women’s and gender concerns.

Cassandra was a campus leader. As a first-year student, she began working at the Women’s Center as a program assistant responsible for coordinating programs and activities. Cassandra went on to become the intern and programmed the first ever Vagina Monologues. She was also a leader of a service trip to the Guardian Angel Home in Chicago. In April 2007, she received the Student Life Award (now the Exemplary Leadership Award) from St. Norbert College for her outstanding leadership and service work.
