Generations of Faith

Generations of Faith is a faith formation process that stresses life-long learning and whole parish catechesis. It engages all generations to learn and share in the life of St. Norbert College Parish and the wider Church.

Generations of Faith provides the opportunity to gather the entire parish to learn, pray and share, which benefits our community life and individual growth. Whether you are a child, a teen, a college student, a young adult, a middle-aged adult or retired person, there is something in Generations of Faith for you!

This academic year, the parish's monthly "Faith Festival" will focus on the different parts of the Mass: "Become One Body, One Spirit in Christ at The Greatest Table." Each month's Faith Festival prepares all ages to actively participate in the Eucharist, connecting catechesis on the Revised Roman Missal, liturgy, justice and prayer with what we live at home and in the community. The Faith Festivals begin with an evening meal at church.  Sharing a meal is a very important component of Generations of Faith. It give participants an opportunity to sit at the table together and have a meal at the end of the day, to engage in conversations with other parish family members and be nourished in body and spirit.

Also scheduled, are afternoons of reflection during Advent and Lent and various retreats for teens and for families with children which will allow extended time for catechesis, spiritual reflection and community building.

Additional ministries to the children and youth include "Children's Liturgy of the Word" on Sundays during the school year, Vacation Bible School in the summer, sacramental preparation programs (see Sacramental Preparation), "Protecting God's Children" Awareness Sessions for Adults, various retreats, diocesan youth events, as well as justice and service opportunities.

Sacramental Preparation Program
Eucharist and ReconciliationFirst Communion

It is an expectation that students from the parish who are preparing for any of the sacraments, will participate with their families in the weekly Sunday Parish Mass and regularly attend the sessions of "Generations of Faith" at St. Norbert College Parish. Since "Generations of Faith" is our primary parish religious education program, it is essential and expected that every child or teen planning to prepare for a sacrament, participates fully in the sessions of "Generations of Faith" the entire year before the year of preparation.
