“All are welcome!” That is the title of the liturgical song that plays in my head as I think of Old St. Joe’s Church at St. Norbert College Parish. My name is Peg Vande Hey and I am the Religious Education Coordinator for the parish. I live in Kaukauna with my husband, Steve. We have three grown children, all graduates of St. Norbert College, and all who are now married. Being a grandparent these days is truly my greatest delight!
Most of my adult life, I have worked in parish ministry—in liturgy, religious education and youth ministry. Together with my husband, we are involved in our parish marriage preparation, social justice ministries and Cursillo. I graduated from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc and am presently working toward a graduate degree in pastoral ministries from St. Mary University of Minnesota in Winona.
It is a great pleasure to serve this faith community at St. Norbert with the student interns, in the faith formation process for all parish members, including college students, called “Generations of Faith.” It is an intergenerational, life-long learning process involving all ages, from children to mature adults. We can never stop learning and sharing our faith.
So, again I repeat, “All are welcome!” My hope for “Generations of Faith” is that all parish members, the young and the old, and everyone in between, gather to continue learning and deepening their gift of faith in Christ Jesus and then learn to live what we believe.
St. Norbert College Parish, like other faith communities, has the responsibility to provide faith formation and to provide sacramental preparation for parishioners. In addition to the RCIA process, the parish also has a formal process of preparation for Eucharist, Reconciliation and Confirmation. To help our young children understand the Liturgy of the Word during the Sunday Liturgy, there is “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” and in the summer, a popular offering for young children is Vacation Bible School. |
