Nominations now being accepted for 2008 Alumni Awards
Do you know someone who deserves distinguished alumni recognition from St. Norbert College? The deadline to submit nominations for this year’s honors is April 1.
In the spirit of the college’s tradition of fostering personal growth and achievement, several different awards have been established to recognize alumni accomplishments.
The Young Alumni Award honors alumni graduating within the past 10 years who best exemplify the Norbertine tradition of service, vision and community activism.
Alumni Awards honor those alumni and members of the community who have a longer history of distinguished service. St. Norbert College presented the first Alma Mater Award in 1957 and the first Distinguished Achievement Awards in Business, Education, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences in 1977.
The Alumni Board voted to add two awards in 1991: the Distinguished Service to the College Award and the Distinguished Achievement in Public Service Award. And, in 1999, the board added the Distinguished Achievement in Religious Studies Award.
After attending the 2007 Alumni Awards dinner, Livy Traczyk ’08 said, “I think that all too often we, as undergraduate students, limit our perception of what being alumni of the college means.
“The Alumni Awards event really broadened my view. It’s not just about donating money back to the college, it’s also about continuing to live the mission of St. Norbert of Xanten of being prepared to do good work anywhere. As an active member of many organizations and clubs on campus, this was really inspiring.”
The nomination process for the 2008 awards is now open. Nominations may be submitted online.
