New-look Green Knight identity celebrated
Knight turned into day on campus when the new-look Green Knight identity was launched last month.
“Knight Day” provided the College community with a daylong reason to celebrate school spirit as well as a first chance to enjoy their mascot’s makeover.
At center stage Sept.13 was the unveiling of the charging Knight device and the College seal, newly revised to incorporate the motto Docere verbo et exemplo (To teach by word and example). The Rev. Jay Fostner, O.Praem., ’84, athletics director Tim Bald, proud Green Knight alumni and students, and the armor-suited Green Knight mascot himself performed the honors as students congregated between classes.
Readers can review their Knight’s evolution over the years, and the design process by which he acquired his latest threads, in the fall issue of the St. Norbert College Magazine, out at the end of this month. This issue, containing the President’s Report, examines the College’s identity as well as its connections with its surrounding community.
A full day for the Green and Gold
Knight Day was a busy 24 hours for St. Norbert pride. Even the least stout-hearted of Knights found themselves dressed in green and gold to celebrate school spirit, pride and tradition.
Res halls and campus “hotspots” were decorated for the event. “Spirit” food in the cafeteria and Knight specials at Phil’s kept the Green and Gold fed and watered. T-shirt give-aways saw students garbed in the new-look pride apparel. And the cheer and dance squads put the S-N-C in school spirit with their 5 p.m. performance.
WSNC radio DJs provided entertainment in the cafeteria, playing music from the bands featured in concert at the campus center that night.
