Alumni communities extend St. Norbert’s reach

Revitalized Washington, D.C., and Denver, Colo., alumni communities join an existing network that includes active groups in Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Madison and northeast Wisconsin.

The two recharged regional communities are already meeting to plan a series of events to connect and engage fellow St. Norbert graduates.

The Washington, D.C., group is planning a Christmas tour of the White House, with dinner to follow at a local eatery. Next spring will see a cruise on the Potomac during cherry blossom season.

Jake Czarnik-Neimeyer ’77 (Alumni and Parent Relations) and Tripp Maher ’80 (College Advancement) have met with alums in the Denver area to brainstorm event ideas for their city, too.

New initiatives in Madison and Northeast Wisconsin

The success of a Chicagoland Annual Award, founded by alums in the Chicago regional community, has prompted alumni support for new scholarships for Madison and northeast Wisconsin students, too. Alumni living in these areas will help fund need-based financial aid for St. Norbert students from their region.

“The Northeast Wisconsin Annual Award is a great way to reward students from the area,” said Bill Van Ess ’85, a member of the St. Norbert College Alumni Board living locally. Van Ess and Rob Carviou ’01 helped draft the program details as the co-chairs of the Donate Team for the Northeast Wisconsin Alumni PRIDE initiative. (The PRIDE acronym encourages alumni connection around five themes: Promote, Recruit, Involve, Donate and Employ.)
