Zimbra Server Information

To use an e-mail program such as Thunderbird, Outlook, or Apple Mail to access your e-mail on Zimbra, you need to configure it according to the following e-mail server information:

E-mail address firstname.lastname@snc.edu
Incoming/IMAP host name or server address
zimbra.snc.edu, port 143
Security TLS or STARTTLS, port 143
Incoming mail server user name
your firstname.lastname Zimbra username
Password your Zimbra password
Outgoing/SMTP host/server:
On the campus network*
smtp.snc.edu, TLS or STARTTLS security, port 25
Outgoing/SMTP host/server:
Off campus & Res. Halls*
smtprelay.snc.edu, SSL security, port 465, with server authentication (“Use name and password”) enabled using your 6-character network login ID as the User Name
Outgoing mail server user name:
Off campus & Res. Halls
your 6-character network login ID

*Note: The off campus outgoing/SMTP host/server works from both on and off campus, so if you have a computer that you're going to be taking back & forth between the campus network and other locations, use off campus outgoing server settings.

Phones/PDAs

To set up the e-mail application on a smart phone to send and receive mail through Zimbra:

 

Server type Exchange/"corporate" server
Server name zimbra.snc.edu
Domain snc.edu
Security SSL
Username/Login   your firstname.lastname Zimbra username
Password your Zimbra password
