Letter from the director

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Every year I can’t seem to help writing about the loveliness of the campus in the fall. This year is no exception, although I’m beginning to wonder if the beauty lies not only in the color of the leaves and the sky, but in the excitement and energy of a new school year. First-year students have begun to settle in, seniors are beginning to realize their college years won’t last forever, although many wish they would, and new projects and initiatives are under way. Needless to say, wonderful changes abound.

After much discernment, I, too, have decided to make some changes in my life. After 15 years at St. Norbert College and more than 20 years within Norbertine schools, I have decided to step down. While I have loved my many opportunities at St. Norbert, especially working with you and your students, I have decided to take some time, along with my husband, to travel and to pursue other opportunities, most likely in areas of service.

While I am very excited about the many possibilities that lie ahead, I can’t help but be a bit saddened about what I am leaving behind: a phenomenal alumni and parent relations staff, exceptional faculty and staff members, our amazing alumni and, of course, those wonderful students of yours. As I mention at every orientation session, it is an honor and a privilege to work with them—they have touched my heart and I am indeed a better person for having known them.

It has also been a pleasure getting to know so many of you throughout the years and visiting with you during Freshman Orientation, Family Weekends, Junior Knights and Days and at Commencement. And I’m grateful to those of you who have become involved—enhancing the College community through your kind assistance.

Special thanks to our Parents Council members, who meet regularly and have recently developed some wonderful new initiatives; of course to our alumni staff—colleagues of mine who have become dear friends; to our student alumni ambassadors, a terrific group of wonderfully energetic students; and of course to our talented, dedicated student interns, especially Kristen Buettner '07, who coordinates this newsletter.

It has been one amazing journey for which I am so grateful.
May God continue to bless our lives.
