Summer 2007
Parent PRIDE
Chris Betcher, Parent Council coordinator
Welcome to all parents who are new to the St. Norbert College community, and welcome back to those who have been with us for a year, or two or three. I had the opportunity to meet many of you during the summer orientation sessions. It’s wonderful to share in your excitement and anticipation about the amazing journey ahead. In each parent I’ve had the pleasure to meet, I can see your overwhelming sense of pride in St. Norbert College.
Often times, both new and veteran parents ask how they could best share this pride. In other words, how could they best put their pride regarding St. Norbert College into action? It’s easy. Promote, Recruit, Involve, Donate, Employ—PRIDE!
P - Promote the College whenever you have an opportunity to do so. Talk about St. Norbert College, wear a shirt, hat, jacket. Take a St. Norbert mug to work, or place a window sticker in your car.
R - Recruit. Help us recruit quality students who you think would benefit from a St. Norbert College education. Bring them to campus or refer students and parents to the Office of Admission.
I - Involve. Become involved in parent activities, alumni and parent events, and other initiatives. We’re committed to providing social, intellectual and spiritual opportunities for you to stay in touch.
D - Donate. Be it time, talent or treasure, donations of any kind are most appreciated. With 97 percent of our students receiving financial aid, a gift to the St. Norbert Fund is a great way for you to share the St. Norbert experience with others.
E - Employ. Assist our students with employment and other career assistance. Join the network of alumni and parents around the country who share their professional expertise and connections.
Any form of assistance is most appreciated—whether it’s mentioning St. Norbert College to prospective students or informing Career Services of internship possibilities in your place of employment. All gestures enhance the College community—so share your PRIDE. Get involved by joining the Alumni and Parent Relations Parent Council. The Parent Council is a group of St. Norbert parents who evaluate the needs of students and parents, select programs/events to sponsor, and are resources for other parents if questions or concerns arise. The council also shares feedback with appropriate St. Norbert personnel.
To become involved with the Parent Council, please fill out the
Parent Council interest form. We will also be hosting a Parent PRIDE Breakfast during Family Weekend. During the breakfast, you will be given an overview of the Parents Council and will be introduced to the PRIDE initiative. To attend the Parent PRIDE Breakfast, please RSVP to
Chris Betcher, Parent Council coordinator.
Enjoy the rest of the summer. As always, please contact us if you have any questions, suggestions, thoughts or concerns. We’d be glad to assist you in any way we can. We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks. |
