Letter from the director
Jake Czarnik-Neimeyer ’77, Director of Alumni and Parent Relations

If you talk to your daughters and sons on a frequent basis, they no doubt tell you how busy they are with their studies but also how involved they are in the many opportunities on and off campus. It is a good thing they have cell phones or we may never be able to reach them. As a parent of two busy St. Norbert students myself, I wonder sometimes if they even take enough time to eat and sleep!

Current St. Norbert students are much more socially conscious and involved than when I attended the College. We at St. Norbert take pride in developing character in our students through spiritual, service and justice opportunities outside the classroom. Those experiences result in meaningful relationships and a strong sense of community at the college.

In particular, the many Alumni and Parent Relations activities on campus provide students with opportunities for personal, spiritual and social development. The student alumni ambassadors gather monthly to assist with other events on campus and serve as representatives at meetings and programs.

As interns and work-study employees in our office, students assist with the day-to-day operation of a major department on campus. Such valuable opportunities to develop marketing, communication and management skills/experience will benefit their vocational choices and careers.

Many students take ownership of the College well before they graduate. Experience has taught us that this engagement will benefit St. Norbert as their Alma Mater, instilling a sense of responsibility to share their time, talents and treasure long after commencement. We look forward to current students coming back as alumni who are dedicated to and passionate about our St. Norbert College community.

During this holiday season, let’s pause and give thanks for all the tremendous opportunities our daughters and sons have as members of this great community. Special thanks as well to the students for their hard work and commitment to making a lasting difference at St. Norbert College.

A blessed Christmas and healthy New Year to your entire family!
