GS ~ General Studies: General studies courses are required for all students at St. Norbert College. As part of the general education program, each student must complete one class in each of nine areas of study for the lower biennium (freshman/sophomore level) and four areas of study for the upper biennium (junior/senior level). Each general studies area is referred to by number, from 1 to 12 (e.g. GS 8). For further details on requirements and areas of study, visit

PJC ~ Peace and Justice Center: Part of the College’s Division of Mission and Heritage, the PJC assists the College in improving the conditions that promote human dignity and establishing a more just society. To help prepare and engage students to serve as ethical and dynamic agents of change in their local, regional, national and global communities, the PJC publishes three newsletters each semester, sponsors speakers and educational forums, and maintains an educational web page. For information on the PJC’s mission, vision and events, visit

SHOP ~ Student Housing Option Program: The Office of Residential Life hosts two nights of SHOP. Returning students are assigned a randomly generated SHOP number based on their class standing. On the designated SHOP night, your son or daughter, in numerical order, chooses where and with whom he or she will live. Once your student selects a spot, he or she signs a housing agreement form that is binding for the 2008-09 academic year.
CC HAMS ~ Canadian Cornishams: CC HAMS is an independent social service group at the College. Female students founded the organization in the 1970s with the goal of building and strengthening the friendships formed on campus. Each generation of members enriches the St. Norbert community through service, leadership and socializing. For details on the group, visit
