Winter 2007

What’s happening in the residence halls?

With most of the semester complete and a very important break ahead, the Office of Residential Life is moving quickly to help students finish out the year.

Social programming within the residence halls has taken a swing toward the holidays! Several residence halls have holiday galas planned so residents can come together to celebrate the season.

In addition, Victor McCormick Hall (VMC) hosted Faculty, Flapjacks and Finals (FFF) the evening of December 10. This program, coordinated by the VMC staff and residents, brings together students and professors who share a love of breakfast food. All students are invited for a nighttime breakfast made by their favorite professor or staff member, free of charge. FFF lets students take a break from studying to enjoy some quality time with professors before the start of final exams.

November brought the opening of the resident assistant (RA) application process for the 2008-09 academic year. Students who wish to interview for next year’s open RA positions are encouraged to apply. Applications are available for your son or daughter at http://www.snc.edu/residentiallife/ and are due on February 1, 2008. If you have the chance, take some time during the winter break to talk with your student about this fun and rewarding experience.

As a reminder to all parents, the residence halls officially close for the holiday break at noon on December 15, 2007. All residence halls except for Madeline/Lorraine and Burke Halls will be closed until January 18, 2008.

If your son or daughter will need housing during the winter break, it is important that you encourage them to speak with their residence hall director, their RA or the Office of Residential Life right away, as winter break housing spots go fast.
