St. Norbert College Vocabulary for Parents

The Caf: As a parent of a student, you have probably heard this term. The caf is short for the cafeteria, which located in the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union. Not to be confused with “calf”, the “caf” is a popular choice for students dining on campus.

The Comfy Couch Room: The “comfy couch room” is the study area on the top floor of the campus center. More formally it is called the Reflection Lounge. It has several very comfortable couches with foot rests and also offers tables and chairs for students to read or study. It has kind of a family room atmosphere and overlooks the beautiful Fox River. Students can even enjoy a complimentary massage chair to ease stress after a long day of class.

Erbs and Gerbs: You may have heard your student talk about this popular fresh sub shop on Main Avenue. Formally Erbert and Gerbert’s, this restaurant, among many other dining options both on campus and off campus, is a student favorite!

JMS: The John Minahan Science building houses many classrooms, labs and study rooms. The Career Services office, Academic Support Services, Finance Office, Media Services and Telecom Store are a few of the resources inside of JMS available to students.
