Move-in

Summer 2009

Fall 2009 Move-In
by Mike Peckham, Director of Housing Operations

New Students
The Residential Education and Housing (REH) staff will be ready for new student move-in on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, beginning at 8 a.m. When students and their families arrive on campus, all traffic will be routed to the Third Street parking lot. There, cars will be lined up and allowed to progress to the assigned hall when space allows. Students will find Residential Education and Housing staff and First Year Experience (FYE) orientation team members ready to assist with move-in. We ask that students unload their vehicle promptly and then move it to a longer term parking area. Students will receive a postcard with details regarding this information.

Please read the New Student Edition of Knight Life, the REH newsletter.  It contains valuable information related to housing and living on campus at St. Norbert College.

What to bring?
Knowing what kinds of things to bring can be a difficult process, especially when it comes to determining what is absolutely essential and what things might just take up space. The following table should assist in this process.

Policies, procedures and student conduct expectations
Students are expected to follow all St. Norbert College policies, procedures and student conduct expectations from the moment they arrive on campus. Violations will be processed through the student conduct process.

Returning students
Returning students may move into the residence halls and upper class areas on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009. Students moving into upper-class housing (apartments, townhouses, and houses) can check in at the Residential Education and Housing Office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Fall sports
If a student is participating in a fall sport, he/she may be required to move in early. The coach will provide this information. Please be advised that some students may not be able to move into their permanent fall assignment during early arrival time.

Room condition reports (RCR)
Students will be issued room keys and a Room Condition Report form (RCR). The RCR is very important; by carefully filling it out, students are assured they will not be assessed charges for any missing items or damage caused by previous residents.

Students should bring their own moving equipment, such as carts and dollies, if families feel it would be helpful for move-in day.
