Gries Hall

Fr. Eugene E. Gries, O.Praem., Residence Hall

Summer 2009

Fr. Eugene E. Gries, O.Praem., Residence Hall
Peter Romenesko '10, Gries Hall Building Manager

St. Norbert College is proud to have successfully opened Gries Hall, a brand new summer and academic year housing option, located across from the Schuldes Sports Center on Third Street. The 59,000-square-foot facility, featuring a brick and stone exterior, is designed to provide upperclass students with a transitional living experience that bridges the gap between traditional campus living and what they might expect in their first residence after graduation.

The new apartment building is home to a variety of shared common areas that are available to all Gries Hall residents and are included in the cost of living. Some of which include a first floor common lounge; a second floor fitness center, laundry room and meeting room; and a third floor reflection lounge designed by Fr. James Neilson. The building is wheelchair accessible and is managed by a student building manager, employed by the Office of Residential Education and Housing.

Students choosing the new apartment building as their living option will sign 12-month leases that run from June through graduation in May, as leases that run for the academic year are not always available. When choosing housing for the following year, soon-to-be-senior student groups will receive preference to live in Gries Hall. Senior-junior mixes and junior groups may apply for apartments if space allows during the Continuing Student Housing Selection Process.

Below you can find other interesting facts about the new Gries Hall.
