Our monthly Faith Festivals offer age-appropriate programming to our elementary, middle school and high school students while adults learn more about their faith formation from a variety of speakers and discussions.

Education & Faith Formation

At Old St. Joe’s, we see faith formation as a lifelong process. We invite you to consider our educational programs as a way to deepen your connections with our spiritual community while simultaneously fostering your own personal faith.

Generations of Faith
Our Generations of Faith program is a whole-parish affair, engaging all generations in our continuing education about the teachings of the church.

Generations of Faith lets us gather the entire parish to learn, pray and share in the life of the St. Norbert College Parish and the wider church. It’s an approach that benefits both our community life and our individual growth.

This academic year, the parish's monthly Faith Festival prepares all ages to actively participate in the Eucharist, connecting catechesis on the revised Roman missal, liturgy, justice and prayer with what we live at home and in the community. The faithful gather in communio to learn about faith, engage in conversations with other parish family members, and be nourished in body and spirit.

Afternoons of reflection during Advent and Lent, plus various retreats for teens and for families with children, allow extended time for catechesis, spiritual reflection and community building.

Additional ministries include our children's liturgy of the Word on Sundays during the school year, vacation bible school in the summer, programs for sacramental preparation, "Protecting God's Children" awareness sessions for adults, various retreats, diocesan youth events, and justice and service opportunities.

Sacramental Preparation
As members of our parish prepare for any of the sacraments of the Church, we urge them to attend, with their families, the weekly Sunday parish Mass and to take part in our Generations of Faith programs. Generations of Faith is our parish’s primary religious education program, so we hope to see every child or teen take full part in “Generations of Faith” for an entire year, ahead of entering into their year of preparation.

First reconciliation preparation sessions are intended for any student in second grade or older who has not yet prepared for the sacrament of reconciliation. First Eucharist preparation sessions are for students in second grade.
