Commencement Ceremony

The Procession
The Commencement procession will enter from the back of the arena promptly at 1:30 p.m. in the following order:

  • ROTC Color Guard
  • Faculty
  • Masters (Graduates)
  • Seniors (Graduates)
  • St. Norbert College Trustees
  • Ceremony Participants

For exiting, the ceremony participants will leave first, followed by the faculty and the new St. Norbert College alumni. The arena lights will be on so you can take pictures of the graduates in procession.

Graduates enter in columns of two:

  • Masters (graduates)
  • BBA and BS graduates on North side of aisle (left as looking at stage).
  • BA and BM graduates on South side of aisle (right as looking at stage).

Seating
Seating is on a first-come basis. You may wish to have someone in Schuldes Sports Center to hold seats if you have specific desires. The arena will open at 12:00 p.m. after Mass. Please be seated by 1:20 p.m. Each graduate is limited to six guests. Tickets are not required.

Seating for Persons with Disabilities
Special seating is available for guests using wheelchairs or others who need special accommodations. The front five rows of the center section are available on a first-come-first serve basis. Limited space precludes no more than one companion with each person requiring special accommodation.

TV Viewing of Graduation
The graduation ceremony will be broadcast on Channel 5, the SNC television channel. This channel is available in College Houses, Apartments, Townhouses, the Carriage House lounge, the Campus Center, and SNC Residence Halls. In addition, the ceremony will be telecast over closed-circuit television in the Fort Howard Theater in the Bemis International Center (doors open at 12:00 p.m.) and in the Campus Center (open 10 a.m. ) Viewing is also available in the De Pere, Allouez, and Ashwaubenon area served by Time Warner Cable.

First Aid
First Aid is available in the Schuldes Sports Center Conference Room during Commencement. This station is staffed by a St. Norbert College nurse. Wheelchairs are available.

Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in any College building. Smoking is permitted outside the Sports Center only.

Graduation Pictures
The College photographer will capture the moment of each graduate being presented a diploma by Dr. William Hynes, President of St. Norbert College. This color photo will be mailed to the graduates shortly after graduation in early June. This photo is free. Extra prints may be ordered for a nominal fee.

If you desire to take your own picture, because of the number of graduates, we ask for your cooperation. Due to the importance of all being able to see the stage, please assemble in the area to the left of the stage (facing it). Ushers will help you get positioned for a good picture just before your graduate crosses the stage. Please quickly return to your seat. We must maintain an orderliness to the traffic flow so that ALL have the best opportunity to obtain the picture they desire as well as providing a clear view of the stage throughout the commencement ceremony.

Video Memories
The Media Services Department of SNC will offer a DVD capturing the Graduation Weekend. The major emphasis is placed on the Graduation ceremony and the Baccalaureate Mass, with flashbacks of senior events that occurred throughout the year and this special weekend.

Please order tapes through Media Services. The cost is $30. Contact Trista at 920-403-3245 or e-mail trista.vannieuwenhoven@snc.edu.
