Professional profile
Dr. Betsy Bauman received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Ancient History from the University of California, Irvine, in Southern California. She specializes in New Testament texts, Early Christianity and women in the Bible.
Her research extends into the areas of feminist theology and postcolonial criticism. A further interest is the relationship between Judaism and incipient Christianity in the first Christian century.
She is currently working on two book projects: a postcolonial analysis of 1 Peter and an analytical anthology of women's responses to suffering. She also teaches in the Classical Studies and Women's and Gender Studies minors.
A mother of teenage twins, Betsy loves gardening, hot-tubbing, spending time with family and friends, and watching the beautiful Wisconsin seasons. |
