Karen Koenig

Professional profile

Karen Koenig is a Wisconsin native and graduate of Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, WI. She received her B.A. in English from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, and her M.A. and Ph.D in the History of Christianity from the Divinity School of the University of Chicago. Her research interests include Early Modern theological history, Catholic devotionalism, particularly the veneration of the infant Christ, and women's convent writing. She is currently working on a book project about the ways in which the advent of the Reformation forced Christians to re-evaluate not only their understanding of Mary but of his infant son as well. She and her husband George are happily raising three young children and enjoy dining out, traveling and the great sport of bowling.
