<content:encoded><![CDATA[DE PERE - St. Norbert College claimed its third consecutive win over a nationally ranked opponent with a hard-fought 60-52 win over UW-Oshkosh at Schuldes Sports Center.<br/><br/>The Green Knights (2-0) won for the second consecutive season over the Titans (0-1), who are ranked 24th in the D3hoops.com Top 25. St. Norbert won consecutive games against Oshkosh for the first time since the 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons.<br/><br/>Oshkosh held its only lead of the game with 10 minutes 31 seconds remaining on a Taylor Pagitt jumper for a 38-36 advantage. St. Norbert then went on a 13-2 run over the next 7 1/2 minutes to lead 49-40 with 2:53 to go. James Pfitzinger's banked jumper tied the game at 38-38, and he made 1 of 2 free throws on St. Norbert's next possession. Dave Wipperfurth canned a jumper for a 41-38 lead, and Pfitzinger scored again on the next trip. Jake Dietz's steal and layup gave St. Norbert a 45-40 lead with 6:04 left.<br/><br/>The Titans would whittle the lead down to three points at 52-49 with 41 seconds left, but St. Norbert made all eight of its free throws the rest of the way to seal the win.<br/><br/>St. Norbert jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the game and led by as many as 13 points in the first half before settling on a 30-19 halftime advantage.<br/><br/>Oshkosh guard D.J. Marsh, a first-team pre-season All-America selection by D3hoops.com, was held to 4 of 16 shooting from the floor with stellar defensive work by Wipperfurth and Paul Mallers. Marsh did go 9-for-9 from the free throw line to finish with 17 points, the only Titan in double figures. The Titans shot just 32.1 percent from the floor, making 17 of 53 field goals.<br/><br/>St. Norbert had a balanced scoring effort, getting 14 points each from Wipperfurth and Steve Papke, with Papke securing a game-high eight rebounds. John Taylor had 12 points, and Dietz added 11. St. Norbert shot 42.2 percent (19-for-45) from the floor, but was 0-for-11 on 3-pointers.<br/><br/>The Green Knights are now 32-11 in their last 43 games dating back to the 2007-08 season.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[DE PERE - St. Norbert College got the 2009-10 season off to a good start with a 112-73 win over Silver Lake College in a non-conference game with a rare midnight start at Schuldes Sports Center.<br/><br/>St. Norbert (1-0) shot 61.9 percent from the floor, making 39-for-63 field goals. The Green Knights shot a blistering 18-for-23 (78.3 percent) from behind the three-point arc.<br/><br/>St. Norbert and Silver Lake were tied at 6-6 before St. Norbert went on a 17-6 run to take a 23-13 lead with 11:27 left in the first half. The Lakers cut the deficit to 23-16, but St. Norbert went on a 26-3 run over the next 5 1/2 minutes for a 49-19 lead and the game was effectively over.<br/><br/>John Taylor led all scorers with 17 points, making five 3-pointers. Paul Appleton had 16 points in his first collegiate game, canning four 3-pointers. Jimmy Martin came off the bench and was a perfect 4-for-4 on 3-pointers for 12 points. Chris Peterson added 11 points. Mike Brumm added 10 points and six assists.<br/><br/>Dwight Weathers, Brian Diorio and Zak Zablocki had 12 points apiece for Silver Lake, which shot 37.7 percent from the floor.]]></content:encoded>

O'Brien made 18 saves as St. Norbert College posted a 2-0 win over UW-Stevens Point in the second game of a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series at the Cornerstone Community Center.<br/><br/>The Green Knights, ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, improved to 6-0-1 overall and 4-0 in the NCHA. Stevens Point dropped to 2-5, 0-4.<br/><br/>St. Norbert got all of its scoring in the second period. Tyler Allen scored the game's first marker at 6 minutes 10 seconds on a breakaway, getting assists from Shane Wheeler and Nick Tabisz. Late in the second period, Stevens Point was called for a too many men penalty. Just as the penalty expired, Tabisz fired a shot from the top of the slot. Stevens Point goaltender Thomas Speer was screened and the puck tricked past him for a 2-0 lead at the 18:40 mark.<br/><br/>Both teams in the third period played mostly perimeter hockey, with the Pointers outshooting the Green Knights 5-4 in the stanza. St. Norbert did hold a 28-18 shots-on-goal advantage for the game.<br/><br/>St. Norbert was 0-for-6 on the power play, while Stevens Point was 0-for-5. North Central College won the meet with an impressive 21 points. UW-La Crosse was the runner-up with 105 points, and Washington University was third with 118 points. North Central's Michael Spain the regional champion with a time of 24:17 over the 8-kilometer course.<br/><br/>Jon O'Brien led St. Norbert with a 67th-place finish, registering a time of 26 minutes. Alex DeVillers was 68th with a time of 26:03, while John Barrett placed 96th with a time of 26:31. Aaron Roden finished with a time of 26:56 to finish 123rd, while Mackenzie Laska was 129th with a time of 27:05.<br/><br/>Seth Hawkins was 137th with a time of 27:10, and Benji Wetli was 174th with a time of 28:00.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[WINNECONNE - St. Norbert College's Jenny Scherer qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship for the third consecutive year with a third-place showing at the Midwest Regional held at Lake Breeze Golf Course.<br/><br/>Scherer, who earned All-America honors in 2008 with a seventh-place showing, covered the 6-kilometer course in an impressive 21 minutes 31 seconds for her third-place finish. UW-Oshkosh's Ayla Mitchell won the event with a time of 20:51, while Washington University's Taryn Surtees was second at 21:06.<br/><br/>St. Norbert finished in 14th place with a team total of 404 points. UW-Eau Claire won the event with 52 points, while Washington was the runner up with 72 points. UW-La Crosse was third with 98 points.<br/><br/>Amanda Whipple placed second for St. Norbert, finishing 45th overall with a time of 23:03. Kim Keil placed in 110th place with a time of 24:19, while Brianna Skrypczak was 112th in 24:23. <content:encoded><![CDATA[GREEN BAY - Five power-play goals in the third period were more than enough to clinch St. Norbert College's 9-3 win over UW-Stevens Point in the first game of a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series at the Cornerstone Community Center.<br/><br/>The Green Knights (5-0-1, 3-0 NCHA), ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, put up six power-play goals and one key shorthanded marker in the game. The six power-play goals is tied for the second most in a game in school history and tied a Cornerstone Community Center record.<br/><br/>St. Norbert led 2-0 after one period. Shane Wheeler scored on the power play just 4 minutes 22 seconds into the game, and Sam Tikka finished a 2-on-1 breakaway at 11:17 for the early advantage.<br/><br/>Stevens Point (2-4, 0-3) cashed in on a St. Norbert double minor to open the second period. The Pointers scored at 58 seconds of the second on Jon Bockmann's goal, followed by Alex Handy's score at 2:17. Stevens Point grabbed a 3-2 lead at 13:42, converting a turnover into a Nick Kenney goal.<br/><br/>St. Norbert would tie the game moments later when Scott Pulak cleaned up around a pile in front of the net at 15:08 for his first goal of the season. Late in the third period, St. Norbert was slapped with a penalty, but took the lead on Brandon Longley's shorthanded goal with 45 seconds left in the frame. Adam Hammerbeck took the puck from the St. Norbert defensive zone and skated into the offensive end and fired a pass to Longley in front of the net for a key score.<br/><br/>The floodgates opened in the third period, with the Green Knights scoring five times on six power-play chances. Matt Boyd scored twice, with Cody Keefer, Tyler Allen and Mike Bernardy all scoring goals in the period.<br/><br/>Boyd added an assist for a three-point night, while Allen had two assists to also earn a three-point game. Jason Nopper and Nick Tabisz each had two assists.<br/><br/>B.J. O'Brien made 14 saves for St. Norbert, while Thomas Speer made 17 saves in 43:47 of work for Stevens Point. Alan Armour made three saves on seven shots faced in 16:13 of relief for the Pointers.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[OSHKOSH - St. Norbert College had its sixth NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament appearance cut short by No. 2-ranked UW-Oshkosh in a three-set loss to the host Titans in the first round of the Midwest Regional at Kolf Sports Center.<br/><br/>The Green Knights had their season end at 24-10 following the 24-9, 25-8, 25-11 loss. Oshkosh improved to 36-2 with the win.<br/><br/>St. Norbert was tied 6-6 in the first set before Oshkosh went on a 13-1 run. The Titans led 10-2 in the second set and 15-3 in the third set to take control.<br/><br/>St. Norbert got four kills from Sarah Sulentic and two apiece from Mary Kate Manion, Sam Jungbluth and Tory Dohm. Laura Ayello had eight assists, and Catherine Guido had 12 digs.<br/><br/>Oshkosh hit a robust .462, with 52 kills in 91 attempts against 10 errors. St. Norbert would not get closer than 12 the rest of the way.<br/><br/>St. Norbert fell behind 14-4 just 6 1/2 minutes into the game and trailed 24-9 with 6:59 left in the first half. Brumm connected on two 3-pointers, and John Taylor and Jack Whalen each connected on a trey to cut into the deficit. Wipperfurth made a pair of free throws and Steve Papke canned a jumper with 1:42 left in the first half to cut it to 3-26, but Rahmon Fletcher's layup with 12 seconds left in the half put the halftime score at 32-26.<br/><br/>Mike Brumm came off the bench to lead St. Norbert with 13 points, canning 4 of 6 3-point field goal attempts. Chris Peterson and Dave Wipperfurth each had seven points for the Green Knights, which shot 36.5 percent (19-for-52) from the floor. St. Norbert did yeoman's work on the glass, trailing in the rebounding total just 37-34.<br/><br/>Green Bay shot 45.8 percent (27-for-59) from the floor for the game, and made 50 percent of its baskets in the second half. Fletcher led the Phoenix with 20 points, while Bryquis Perine added 12 points.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College and Hamline University skated to a 1-1 tie in a game that featured superb goaltending in a non-conference game at the Cornerstone Community Center.<br/><br/>St. Norbert's B.J. O'Brien and Hamline's Beau Christian both posted big save totals as the two teams settled for a stalemate. O'Brien made 30 saves, including a full splits save in the first period and a breakaway stop in the second period. Christian made 33 saves and kept the Pipers in the game with several difficult stops.<br/><br/>St. Norbert had six power-play opportunities in the second period and didn't officially score on any of them, but scored the game's first goal six seconds after a penalty expired. Matt Boyd poked in a loose puck off an initial Cody Keefer shot at the 16 minute 11 second mark of the second period.<br/><br/>Hamline then went on a 5-on-3 power play almost immediately after the goal and cashed in with 1 seconds left on the initial penalty. Taylor Vichorek knocked home the puck on a scramble at the 18:23 mark, with Brian Arrigoni and Chris Berenguer assisting.<br/><br/>Neither team had a quality scoring chance in the overtime.<br/><br/>St. Norbert outshot Hamline 34-31. The Pipers were 1-for-5 on the power play, while St. Norbert was 0-for-6 overall.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- St. Norbert College wrapped up its 2009 regular season in dominating fashion with a 49-0 shutout of Illinois College in a Midwest Conference game at England Stadium.<br/><br/>The Green Knights finished the regular season 9-1 and hold out hope for one of six at-large berths into the 32-team NCAA Division III Playoffs. St. Norbert, which was ranked No. 10 in this week's NCAA West Region ranking, pitched back-to-back shutouts to end its regular season for the first time since blanking Loras and St. Joseph's (Ind.) to conclude the 1952 campaign.<br/><br/>St. Norbert dominated from start to finish, holding the Blueboys to seven first downs and forcing a whopping 13 punts. Illinois College gained just 119 yards of total offense, and quarterback Mitch Niekamp -- who threw for 467 yards at St. Norbert last season -- was held to just 60 in this game.<br/><br/>The Green Knights opened the scoring with a 12-play, 54-yard drive late in the first quarter, with Rob Berger finding Logan Krueger on a 5-yard touchdown pass with 1:12 left in the period.<br/><br/>Berger rushed for an 8-yard touchdown with 8:07 left in the second quarter, and John Weninger rushed for a 7-yard score with 1:04 left for a 21-0 lead at halftime.<br/><br/>Todd Sheedy had a 14-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter, and Berger found Krueger again for a 20-yard touchdown for a 35-0 lead with 5:05 left in the period. Beloit finished its season 24-6. St. Norbert has scored 22 goals in its first four games, an average of 5.5 per game.<br/><br/>Bethel did draw first blood scoring off a neutral zone turnover 3 minutes 48 seconds into the game on a Christian Fogerty score. St. Norbert did not waste much time in taking the lead. Alain Joanette scored for the second time this season at 6:#4, while Cody Keefer then put St. Norbert ahead at 9:53. <content:encoded><![CDATA[DE PERE - St. Norbert College senior offensive lineman Jake Reisner has been named to the College Division Academic All-District V first team of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America balloting, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).<br/><br/>Reisner, a senior from Kaukauna and a Fox Valley Lutheran High School graduate, holds a 3.98 grade point average with a major in biomedical science. Reisner has started all nine games on the offensive line this season and has helped the Green Knights rush for 188.2 yards per game. Reisner is a teaching assistant in the St. Norbert biology department.<br/><br/>To be eligible for national or regional selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. The Academic All-America team is selected after All-District teams are picked from eight geographic regions nationally.<br/><br/>St. Norbert has had 40 Academic All-America selections. Denise Heuser canned a pair of 3-pointers during the Green Knights' run. Green Bay took a 41-21 halftime lead before pushing its lead to 57-27 with 11:53 left in the game.<br/><br/>St. Norbert did hold the Phoenix to 47 percent shooting from the floor. Green Bay, which had Division I's top scoring defense last season en route to a 29-4 season, held the Green Knights to 37.5 percent shooting from the floor.<br/><br/>Heuser was the only St. Norbert player to score in double figures at 14 points. Stefanie Bunday had eight points, while Jamie Kuhl had six points.<br/><br/>Julie Wojta led Green Bay with 19 points, while Breannah Ranger added 11 points and Celeste Hoewisch had 10. Grinnell College won the championship with 62 points. Carroll University was second with 71 points, while Monmouth College was third with 73 points. St. Norbert's 74 points were good for fourth.<br/><br/>Defending conference champion Jenny Scherer was not able to repeat, finishing second to Carroll's Megan O'Grady. St. Norbert swept Concordia-Moorhead and St. John's on Nov. 10-11, 2007 for its last four-point road weekend.<br/><br/>St. Norbert (3-0, 2-0 NCHA) entered the weekend ranked No. 11 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll. <content:encoded><![CDATA[DE PERE -- The final game in the 71-year history of Minahan Stadium was an uneventful one as St. Norbert College rolled to a 44-0 Midwest Conference win over Beloit College.<br/><br/>The Green Knights closed out Minahan Stadium with a dominating performance to win for the 51st time in their last 56 home games. St. Norbert, which opened the stadium in 1938, finished with a 201-91-7 overall record at Minahan Stadium. St. Norbert is slated to move into the new Schneider Stadium in 2010.<br/><br/>St. Norbert forced Beloit into five turnovers and eight punts, and held the visitors to 127 yards of total offense with five first downs.<br/><br/>The Green Knights took a 7-0 first-quarter lead when Dustin Gresen blocked a Dillon Hess punt in the end zone and fell on the loose ball just 4 minutes 31 seconds into the game.<br/><br/>St. Norbert took a 13-0 lead when Todd Sheedy scored on a 1-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. Rob Berger's 17-yard scramble for a touchdown 5:26 before halftime gave St. Norbert a 20-0 lead at intermission.<br/><br/>The Green Knights (8-1, 7-1 MWC) received the opening kickoff and marched 58 yards in six plays and scored on a Berger 6-yard touchdown run. Following a Beloit three-and-out, St. Norbert moved 66 yards in 12 plays and settled for a 27-yard Roger Nault field goal.<br/><br/>Beloit (5-4, 4-4) fumbled on its next play from scrimmage and Berger's 5-yard touchdown pass to Mike Dickman put St. Norbert ahead 37-0 with 2:55 left in the third quarter. St. Norbert closed out the scoring on an Adam Gruett 5-yard touchdown run with 4:25 left. Sheedy's extra-point was the final point scored in Minahan Stadium.<br/><br/>St. Norbert rolled to 535 yards of total offense, and had 344 yards coming on the ground. St. Norbert, which ran a whopping 87 plays and had 28 first downs, had the ball for 39 minutes 28 seconds. Stout (0-1, 0-1), ranked third in the USCHO poll, was tabbed to win the NCHA title by the league's coaches.<br/><br/>St. Norbert's Adam Hammerbeck broke a scoreless tie when he scored at the 10 minute 15 second mark of the third period off an assist from Scott Pulak. Hammerbeck, a junior defenseman, registered just his second career goal with the score.<br/><br/>The Green Knights sealed the game with 7 seconds remaining when Shane Wheeler tallied his third goal of the young season on an empty-net score. Matt Boyd and Nick Tabisz had assists.<br/><br/>B.J. O'Brien picked up his third career shutout between the pipes for the Green Knights. St. Norbert finished the regular season 22-9. Beloit had a 10-match winning streak snapped to finish 23-5, 8-1.<br/><br/>The first set was tied 20-20 before St. Norbert closed it out with five straight points. Tory Dohm had a pair of kills in the run for the Green Knights. The second set was tied 13-13 before Beloit slowly pulled away. The Green Knights were within 19-16 but a 4-1 run by Beloit sealed the set for the host.<br/><br/>St. Norbert trailed early in the third set 5-1 before coming back to tie it at 9-9. St. Norbert trailed 21-19 before getting six straight points to finish out the set. Dohm had two more kills during the decisive run.<br/><br/>The fourth set was also closely fought, with Beloit holding a 21-20 lead. St. Norbert was tough down the stretch again, finishing with a 6-2 run to win the match and the championship.<br/><br/>St. Norbert hit .192 for the match, netting 61 kills against 26 errors in 182 attempts. Dohm had a team-high 18 kills with seven errors in 40 attempts. Sarah Sulentic had 14 kills, while Danielle Remy added 12. Laura Ayello had 48 assists. The Green Knights had 91 digs, with Catherine Guido posting 29 and Lauren Meehan 20.<br/><br/>Beloit hit .143, getting 49 kills against 23 errors in 182 attempts. But a pair of Elmhurst goals late in the first half proved to be the difference, as neither team scored in the second half.<br/><br/>Elmhurst's Keith Thurman opened the scoring at 11 minutes 27 seconds, but St. Norbert's Ben Vanden Avond would tie the game, scoring his 10th goal of the season on a penalty kick at 23:25. The Bluejays grabbed a 2-1 lead o Jon Brehm's unassisted goal at 36:05. St. Norbert's Donny Baloun would score for the fifth time this season, tallying an unassisted marker at 40:37.<br/><br/>The Bluejays would score the decisive goals when David Griggs scored at 41:37 and Brehm would score again just 13 seconds before halftime.<br/><br/>St. Norbert outshot Elmhurst 20-14 and also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. It was the season opener for both teams.<br/><br/>Keefer had the Green Knights' first five-point game in nearly seven years, scoring two goals and three assists. St. Norbert career scoring leader Jason Deitsch had five points in an 11-2 win over St. John's on Jan. 3, 2003.<br/><br/>Keefer scored the goal of the game, netting a power-play marker 5 minutes 42 seconds into the contest. Shane Wheeler followed at 12:41 of the first to make it 2-0. The Foresters' Trent Brown scored off a defensive breakdown at 14:12 to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the end of the first period.<br/><br/>Mike Bernardy scored 18 seconds into the second period just as a St. Norbert power play expired for a 3-1 advantage. Keefer scored his second goal of the night at 10:09 for a 4-1 cushion.<br/><br/>Brandon Longley, Peter Fylling, Wheeler and Alain Joanette all scored third-period goals to round out the scoring. It was the first meeting between the two programs, and St. Norbert now owns wins all-time over seven of the nine WIAC women's soccer programs.<br/><br/>St. Norbert pushed out to a 1-0 halftime lead when Jessica Schadrie scored her 10th goal of the season, finding the back of the net at 37 minutes 47 seconds off an Ann Maki assist.<br/><br/>River Falls tied the match at 69:42 when Janae Baron scored her 10th goal of the season. The Green Knights regained the lead just 1:10 later when Ann Maki scored off an assist from Caitlin Carrigan off a scramble in front of the net. Maki then scored again, her sixth goal of the year, off an assist from Jessica Schadrie on a blast from about 25 feet out.<br/><br/>River Falls outshot St. Norbert 25-15, including 16-8 in the second half, and also held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. <content:encoded><![CDATA[DE PERE -- St. Norbert College scored on seven of its first nine possessions en route to a 41-28 Midwest Conference win over Ripon  College on a brisk Homecoming afternoon at Minahan Stadium.<br/><br/>The Green Knights (7-1, 6-1 MWC), who won their 11th straight Homecoming game, held a 31-7 lead midway through the third quarter to jump ahead in the battle for second place in the MWC. Ripon (5-3, 5-2) lost its fifth-straight game in Minahan Stadium.<br/><br/>St. Norbert took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. The Green Knights received the opening kickoff and marched 54 yards in nine plays to score on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Rob Berger to John Weninger. St. Norbert converted a fourth-and-1 at the Ripon 20 on the series.<br/><br/>The Green Knights picked up a big 27-yard pass play from Berger to Adam Gruett on their next series, which set up a 35-yard Roger Nault field goal with 5:12 left in the quarter.<br/><br/>A promising Ripon drive was halted at the St. Norbert 35 by a fumble on the Red Hawks' next series, but St. Norbert was forced to punt. Ripon appeared stopped deep in its own territory, but Kurt Roeder's 36-yard sprint around the left side on a fake punt on fourth-and-16 from its won 15 set up the Red Hawks in St. Norbert territory. Ripon quarterback Matthew Miller rushed 33 yards for the visitor's first points with 12:03 left in the second quarter.<br/><br/>St. Norbert answered on its next series, getting a 34-yard run by Berger to the Ripon 2. Todd Sheedy's two-yard plunge put St. Norbert ahead 17-7 with 8:18 left in the half.<br/><br/>Ripon fumbled at the St. Norbert 42 on its next series, enabling St. Norbert to score again. The Green Knights faced a fourth-and-10 at the Ripon 22, with Berger finding Brian Peterson for a 21-yard gain to the Ripon 1 with 29 seconds left. Berger hit Nick Glass for a touchdown on the next play for a 24-7 halftime lead.<br/><br/>St. Norbert forced Ripon into a three-and-out series to open the second half. The Green Knights moved 71 yards in nine plays, scoring on a 10-yard run by Weninger for a 31-7 lead with 8:49 left in the third quarter.<br/><br/>Ripon would score a pair of touchdowns sandwiched around a 25-yard field goal by Nault early in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 34-21, but Berger's 20-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Gezella with 2:20 left gave St. Norbert a 41-21 lead.<br/><br/>St. Norbert piled up 428 yards of total offense, and held the ball for 31 minutes against Ripon's option attack. Berger had 355 yards of total offense, rushing 11 times for 93 yards and completing 19 of 28 passes for 262 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Weninger rushed for 47 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown and also caught four passes for 26 yards and a score. Logan Krueger hauled in four passes for 69 yards.<br/><br/>Ripon had 362 yards of total offense, with 321 coming on the ground. Miller ran 22 times for 141 yards and two touchdowns, while fullback T.J. Pierce had 90 yards on 18 carries and one score. Miller completed 6 of 16 passes for 41 yards.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[WHITEWATER - St. Norbert College split a pair of matches at the UW-Whitewater Tournament held Friday at Williams Center.<br/><br/>The Green Knights (19-8) lost to No. 8-ranked UW-Whitewater 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 before topping Coe Collegge 25-15, 25-20, 25-16.<br/><br/>In the win over Coe, St. Norbert was led by Sam Jungbluth's 10 kills, while Danielle Remy added eight kills and four blocks. Sarah Sulentic had eight kills and six blocks. Laura Ayello registered 30 assists, while Catherine Guido had 15 digs and Amy Perszyk 14 digs.<br/><br/>Against Whitewater, Ayello totaled 22 assists with 14 digs. Guido added 13 digs, while Lauren Meehan had seven kills.<br/><br/>St. Norbert will face Carroll University and Central (Iowa) College Saturday for its final two matches of the tournament.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[APPLETON - St. Norbert College remained unbeaten in the Midwest Conference volleyball race with a four-set win over Lawrence University at Alexander Gym.<br/><br/>The Green Knights, now 18-7 overall and 7-0 in the MWC, won their eighth-straight match and improved to 50-0 all-time against the Vikings with a 22-25, 25-19, 25-10, 25-17 win. The Vikings fell to 12-13, 3-4.<br/><br/>St. Norbert hit .234 for the match, connecting on 57 kills with 18 errors in 167 attempts. Lauren Meehan totaled 15 kills, while Sam Jungbluth added 12 kills. Laura Ayello posted 52 assists. The Green Knights totaled 92 digs, with Catherine Guido registering 32 and Amy Perszyk 20.<br/><br/>Lawrence hit .096 for the match with 41 kills on 167 attempts with 25 errors. <content:encoded><![CDATA[MADISON - Callie Schroeder and the duo of Lauren Post and Kelly Van Handel captured Midwest Conference titles at the league's Singles and Doubles Championship at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.<br/><br/>Schroeder captured the championship of the No. 6 flight, while Post and Van Handel won the No. 1 doubles flight.<br/><br/>St. Norbert, which won the Midwest Conference title by winning the team tournament on Oct. 16, also won the singles/doubles tournament with 73 points. Grinnell College had 72 points, while Beloit College had 64.<br/><br/>Schroeder topped Grinnell's Elizabeth Spears 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the championship after topping Beloit's Ashley Miglin 7-5, 6-4 in the semifinals.<br/><br/>Post and Van Handel defeated Beloit's Hannah Perwin and Erika Zevin 6-2, 7-5 to claim their championship. The pair topped Lake Forest College's Melika Celebic and Nonie Carson 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.<br/><br/>Post advanced to the finals of the No. 1 flight but lost to Ccelebic 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Post defeated Perwin 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals. Van Handel also fell in the finals at No. 2 singles, losing to Zevin 7-5, 6-2.<br/><br/>St. Norbert's Maria Slusarek and Kristyn Klind advanced to the finals of No. 3 doubles, but fell to Grinnell's Kelsey Picken and Jill Akiyama 6-2, 7-5. Slusarek and Klind topped Beloit's Miglin and Julia Win 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 in the semifinals.]]></content:encoded>
