Sociology alumni Over the years, most of our students have gone into businesses or human services. Read more about what our graduates have done and where they've gone on the career services web site. One testimonial.... While a senior at St. Norbert College, Ted G. interned at Family Services' Billie Kress Center—a residential treatment center for adolescents. Now a graduate, Ted is working for Alternatives in Psychological Consultation, one of three wraparound agencies in Milwaukee. He is one of eight care coordinators. Recently, Ted wrote and said, "I just met my first family on Thursday. I will eventually serve eight to ten families. I can see why you recommended to me to work in wraparound as opposed to working in a treatment facility. I really like the philosophy of "kids need a home." I was always for a less restrictive setting for kids in order to be successful members of the community. Also, I enjoy the pro active approach of wraparound rather than the reactive approach of a treatment facility. It is still frustrating that kids in wraparound can be court ordered to a treatment facility for stabilization and it is especially frustrating if some team members actually agree with the stabilization period and do not really want to work to get the child back home, but I will do my best to keep the kid in the home. Anyway, it is really cool. I feel like I can be successful here. Thank you for all of your help!" - |
