What is "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America?"
This is a conference of sports academics and professionals working in sports-related fields to network and to share their expertise about American sports.  It is co-sponsored by St. Norbert College and the Green Bay Packers.

What is the conference?
The goal of the "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America" conference is to create a distinctive, intimate, and affordable three-day event that provides opportunities for sports academics and professionals working in sports-related fields to network and to share their expertise about American sports.

When and where is the conference?
"A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America" will held from May 26-28, 2010 at both St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI and at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI.

What will the conference include?
The conference schedule will feature two prominent names in the world of sports providing major addresses on “Sports in America” and “The Future of American Sports;” concurrent sessions at which academics and practitioners will be able to listen to and to give papers and presentations on a wide range topics related to American sports; a gallery exhibition of the finest American sports photography; and a juried festival of sports-themed films and videos. >>MORE

What topics will be included in the concurrent sessions?
We are soliciting paper/presentation abstracts from for consideration for inclusion in the concurrent sessions. Any topic related to sports in America is welcomed. For a list of suggested topics, please visit the conference overview web page.

Who should submit a paper/presentation abstract?
We are seeking participation by sports academics and professionals working in sports-related fields. For information on how to submit an abstract, please to go to the submissions web page. Abstracts are due by November 30, 2009.

Will you be publishing proceedings from the conference?
Yes. It is our intention to publish a Conference Proceedings following the conference. Presenters who would like to have their work considered for inclusion will be asked to submit their papers to the peer review process.  Formal instructions will be part of the registration packet distributed prior to the conference.

Who are the keynote speakers?
Paul Tagliabue, former Commissioner (CEO) of the National Football League and Carl Vogel, Partner at SCP Worldwide, will be the keynote speakers for the "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America" conference.

How do I register?
Participants will be able to register online, by e-mail, postal mail or fax. Conference registration will open February 1, 2010 and close April 1, 2010.

What are the registration fees?
The cost of the conference is $275 for the full conference which includes a dinner for all attendees in the Legends club area at Lambeau Field, three days of luncheons, several coffee breaks daily, a guided tour of Lambeau Field, admission to the Packers Hall of Fame, access the “Sports in America” and “The Future of American Sports” addresses, all concurrent sessions, and admission to photography gallery and all film/video showings. Conference registration will open February 1, 2010 and close April 1, 2010.

Is single-day registration possible?
Yes, the single-day registration fees are $150 for Day One only, $180 for Day Two only, and $100 for Day Three Only.  The single-day fees include access to all the meals, breaks, tours, speakers, and meetings scheduled for that day.

Do you provide refunds if I register and cannot attend?
You may cancel 30 days prior to the event for a full refund.

Is your credit card system secure?
Credit card and registration information handled by St. Norbert College is transmitted securely.

Where can I find lodging information?

Accommodations must be made independently by each individual. There are many hotels located in the De Pere and Green Bay areas. A list of conference hotels will be available on this web site.

Do you have official conference hotels?
The Kress Inn, located on the St. Norbert College campus, is the official hotel of the "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America" conference.

Do I have to stay in the official hotel(s)?
You do not have to stay at the Kress Inn, the official conference hotel. Additional hotel options will be listed on this web site.

How do I get to the conference?
Transportation to and from the conference is on your own. The greater Green Bay area is served by several airlines flying into and out of Austin Straubel International Airport, which is six miles from St. Norbert College and seven miles from Lambeau Field.

Can the conference accommodate my food allergies?
Yes, we are happy to accommodate any special dietary restrictions you may have. Please note this on your registration form under your meal selections.

How do I get on your mailing list?
If you are interested in getting on the conference mailing list, there will be a sign-up sheet at the registration table on day 1 of the conference at St. Norbert College.

Do you offer continuing education credits?
No, continuing education credits are not offered through the conference.

What is the weather like in Northeastern Wisconsin in May?
