What is "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America Conference?"
The goal of the "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America" conference is to create a distinctive, intimate, and affordable conference event that provides opportunities for sports academics and professionals working in sports-related fields to network and to share their expertise about American sports. The Sport and Society Conference is co-hosted by St. Norbert College and the Green Bay Packers. The 2012 Sport and Society Conference will feature keynotes delivered by renown professionals from the world of sports and concurrent sessions at which academics and practitioners will be able to listen to and to give papers and presentations on a wide range topics related to American sports.

When and where is the conference?
The 2012 "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America" will be held May 22-24, 2012 at both St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI and at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. What will the conference include?
The conference schedule will feature prominent names in the world of sports providing major addresses on “Sport in America Society”.

The conference includes access to all keynotes and speakers, dinner and concurrent sessions, dinner and luncheons at Lambeau Field and at St. Norbert College, that include several coffee breaks daily. Conference attendees will also be provided with a private galleries exhibition of four Super Bowl rings – one each from the Packer victories in Super Bowls I, II, XXXI and XLV – a guided tour of Lambeau Field, admission to the Packers Hall of Fame, and screenings of sports-related films. Attendees will also be provided with a volume containing a collection of selected papers from the 2010 conference. >>MORE

What if there is more than one presenter?

if you are co-presenting at the conference, all presenters will need to register separately.

Presenter timeline-dates:

  • Call for papers/abstracts: November 2011 
  • Acceptance: January 31, 2012
  • Registration opens: February 1, 2012
  • Registration closes: April 1, 2012

How do I register?
All conference registration is handled online. Participants can register for the Sport and Society conference via our online registration web page Once registered, you will receive an e-mail receipt confirming your registration.

What are the registration fees?
The conference registration fee of $195.

What is included with my registration?
includes access to all keynotes and speakers, dinner and concurrent sessions, luncheons at Lambeau Field and at St. Norbert College, that also includes several coffee breaks daily. Are registration discounts available?
No discounts or group rates are available for this conference. The conference price has been set to keep it affordable for all attendees.

Do we need to register early?
To maintain an intimate atmosphere, total registration at the conference will be limited to 200 on a first come, first served basis. We recommend registering early. Preference will be given to those giving papers and presentations.  

Do you provide refunds if I register and cannot attend?
Registered conference participants may cancel their registration 30 days in advance of the "A Mirror of our Culture: Sport and Society in America" conference for a full refund. Conference cancellations must be in writing. No phone calls will be accepted.

How do I make accommodations for the Sport and Society conference?
Hotel reservations for the Sport and Society Conference should be made by individual attendees directly with the hotels’ reservations department. For a list of local recommended hotels offering a special rate visit the accommodations web page. 

Registrants are responsible for their own transportation. Please check with the conference hotels for availability of provided shuttle service.
