Student Life Award Descriptions - St. Norbert College

The Student Life Awards are open to all SNC students by nomination and qualifications. All awards listed here are based on your total college involvement from your freshmen year on, except for the Norbertine Leadership & Service Award, which is based on current year involvement only.

Ethel D. Augustine Memorial Fund Award	Senior	2.5	Cash Award	Student who has actively served and provided leadership and volunteerism within the span of our global community
Wisconsin Campus Compact	Freshman-Junior		Award	The student must be able to attend the February 20, 2008 WiCC/DPI Service-Learning Institute at the Brookfield Sheraton in Brookfield, WI, should they be selected for the award. The award will include registration fees for the Institute for the Student Award winner. Students must show an innovative approach to building or enhancing campus-based efforts to address community issues and needs, use of diverse strategies of engagement, and ability to lead, inspire, and engage other students and/or members of the institution.
Campus Compact-Frank Newman Leadership Award	Sophomore or Junior		Cash	Awarded to exceptional students who have shown potential for civic leadership through community service and scholastic achievement. The student must also demonstrate financial need. The President must come up with a mentoring plan for the student. The Mentoring Plan is a pledge that the president will provide mentoring and leadership development for the winning student for the following academic year and describes how this will occur. The Plan should describe regular contact between the president and student, ongoing support for the student from an appropriate staff member (i.e. community service director or faculty) and discuss specific opportunities for the student. Two $5,000 awards are available to undergraduate students at Campus Compact member colleges and universities.
Campus Compact-Howard R. Swearer Student Humanitarian Award	Freshman-Junior		Cash	Five students at Campus Compact member schools are honored each year with this prestigious award. The award recognizes students for their innovative strategies in addressing community issues and needs, and their efforts to build and sustain this work among their peers and within their institution. The award is named in honor of the late Howard R. Swearer, 15th president of Brown University and a founder of Campus Compact. These $1,500 awards support service programs designed or chosen by the recipients. Each Campus Compact member president can nominate one student for the award. $1,500 for each student: a $250 donation to a service program/organization the student has been involved with and a $1,250 award for student's use in professional development (for example, travel to and accommodation at conferences).

Leadership in Action	Junior	2.75	Scholarship	Student who has held create positive change at SNC and have demonstrated leadership within a campus organization, internship, work or community service
Harry Maier Community Service Scholarship	Sophomore or Junior		Scholarship	Outstanding service off campus in the Green Bay metropolitan community (such as United Way, Salvation Army or other service organizations). Preference is given to students in the communications or business related fields
Mel Nicks Award	Sophomore /Junior	2.5	Cash Award	An SNC athlete that has given extraordinary service to the college and community
Norbertine Leadership and Service Award	Any Student	2.25	Certificate	Award is based on involvement during current academic year. Student nominees should demonstrate the following: • Involvement: Demonstrate depth of involvement in campus activities and community service/civic engagement • Leadership: Strong leadership experience on and off campus including experience leading/directing a team or group, helping others achieve goals, delegating responsibilities or initiating new ideas • Diversity: Demonstrate commitment to understand/appreciate human differences and support efforts to diversify the college community • Service: Demonstrate engaged citizenship to create effective change on the SNC campus and outside of the college community • Dedication to Change Yourself: Demonstrate proficiency in personal goal-setting, spirituality, communication or wellness
WFIC-Rath Distinguished Merit Scholarship	Junior	3.5	Scholarship	Students who demonstrate a high achievement of academics, leadership, and community service.
Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges	Junior/ Senior	2.75	Certificate	For more than seven decades, this national program has honored outstanding campus leaders annually for their scholastic and community achievements.
