C-Print Captionist — Academic Support Services

Academic Support Services is currently accepting student applications for a C-Print Captionist. This position will be approximately 6-9 hours per week. C-Print Captioning is a computerized transcription of a live lecture in the classroom used for deaf and hard of hearing students. Our office will train you on how to do this within the classroom.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
● Engage in pre-professional development related to C-Print Captioning
● Provide C-Print Captioning for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Students in the classroom and provide C-Print notes
● Ability to be in courses with student in need of service
Classes times involved are Tues/Thurs 8:20 till 9:50
Mon/Wed/Fri 12:00 till 1:00

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
● Must have excellent typing skills, spelling and grammar skills, organizational and note-taking skills, and strong technology skills in general.
● Ability to relate well to individuals with a variety of disabilities, and possess the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and other professionals, and possess excellent office skills.
● Ability to type at least 50 words per minute with accuracy
● Ability to understand and communicate in writing college level material.
● Good spelling and grammar skills
● Good organizational and note-taking skills
● Strong technology skills, with aptitude for learning new programs
● Good communication skills and relate well with students, parents, faculty, staff and other professionals.
