Summer Conference Housing Assistant (Blue Crew) — Residential Education and Housing

The Residential Education and Housing summer positions are integral roles for summer operations. The Student Staff Member assists REH in multiple facets—whether it is working with a conference guest to answering questions for new students. The position focuses on the following skills: communication, organization, time management, self-motivation, role modeling, problem solving, integrity, teamwork and dependability.

Qualifications, Expectations, and Eligibility

Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups of students is necessary as well as the ability to work independently without immediate supervision. Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.


The Summer Conference Housing Assistant position is available from Thursday, May 17, 2018 to Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
Must be available to work weekdays (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) and possibly weeknight and weekend hours to prepare for conferences.
Housing Assistants are not permitted to have another campus job during the summer.


The Summer Conference Housing Assistant (Blue Crew) is immediately responsible to the Summer Operations Supervisor. The position is responsible for having rooms ready in the campus housing units for guests during the summer months. Guest may be people attending conferences, workshops or summer programs. Having rooms prepared includes distributing blankets, pillows, sheets, towels, soap, glasses and conference publications. The position also includes cleaning lounges, individual rooms, moving furniture and maintaining storage areas.
Housing Assistants will be expected to assist with projects as assigned by the supervisor. On a day-to-day basis, the Summer Conference Housing Assistants work as a team. Specific responsibilities change on a daily basis and no two days are alike.


The financial remuneration is $8.00 per hour and on-campus housing is provided in the summer hall.
