Summer Operations Supervisor — Residential Education and Housing

The Residential Education and Housing summer positions are integral roles for summer operations. The Student Staff Member assists REH in multiple facets—whether it is working with a conference guest to answering questions for new students. The position focuses on the following skills: communication (verbal and written), organization, time management, self-motivation, role modeling, problem solving, integrity, teamwork, dependability and supervisory.

Qualifications, Expectations, and Eligibility

The Summer Operations Supervisor should have previous experience as either a Residential Education and Housing staff member at St. Norbert College; or equivalent related leadership/administrative experience. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups of students is necessary. Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.


The Summer Operations Supervisor is a full-time (40 hours per week) from Tuesday, May 15, 2018 to Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Vacations and weekends away from campus in the summer must be discussed and scheduled in advance with the assigned supervisor. Summer “on call” coverage will be shared jointly with the REH summer student staff. Weekly hours may vary depending on arrival and departure dates of conferences.
REH staff members are not permitted to have another campus job during the summer.


The financial remuneration is $8.75 per hour; on-campus housing provided in the summer hall and 5 meals per week/plan.


A. Supervise and actively work with the REH Housing Assistants.
B. Check rooms for needed maintenance and fill-out room condition reports.
C. Make beds, distribute blankets, toiletries and pillows; and keep accurate records.
D. Post needed information; design bulletin boards targeted at conference visitors.
E. Maintain common areas when needed (i.e., wastepaper baskets, vacuum, dust, mop, move furniture, clean common area bathrooms etc…)
F. Coordinate the ordering of linen from Bay Towel as well as the ordering of all other needed supplies
G. Maintain inventory of all other supplies and storage areas (i.e., soap, glasses, blankets, linens, pots, pans, furniture, etc.)
H. Be responsible for any transportation of supplies both on campus and to and from vendor.
I. Inventory all housing storage areas, lounges and rooms when requested.
J. Assist with new furniture installation.
K. Move furniture as requested.
L. Assist as needed on weekends and evenings.
M. Rotate “on duty” responsibilities with other staff members.
N. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Housing Operations.
