Student Organization Handbook Home

All topics within this online handbook are in the navigation to the left. If you are looking for something in particular, put it into the general SNC search above and it will show up.

The Student Organization Handbook is compiled and maintained by the Department of Leadership, Student Engagement & First Year Experience. It contains all requirements and guidelines concerning recognized student organizations on the St. Norbert College campus.

The Department of Leadership, Student Engagement & First Year Experience is your main resource as a recognized student organization. They are the liaison between your organization and the college, assisting you in maintaining your administrative responsibilities, helping to sort out liability concerns, and available in whatever capacity you choose to use them. If you need help developing a program, have an institutional policy question, or need advice for a difficult situation, the LSE staff is available to assist you. Whatever the concern or need, LSE can help or at least direct you to the place that can. LSE offers several services to help you become the best organization you can be:

ACCESS
Access meets twice a year. To maintain organizational recognition, you must have at least 1 organization officer attend Access. If you have items to discuss, call LSE (x4023) so these items can be put on the agenda. The first meeting is a kickstart to the academic year where each organization receives its renewal packet, handbook and policy updates, and pertinent information. The second meeting occurs right after winter break. Current concerns are discussed and updates are provided. Access serves as a direct communication link between the College and the student organizations.

PRESIDENTS AND ADVISERS LISTSERVE
LSE maintains a Presidents list serve, to which all organization presidents and vice presidents are automatically subscribed to the "orgaccess" listserve. The list is used to send notification of any events, changes, or updates approximately twice a month. In addition, you can also use the list to promote your own campus events. If other officers wish to be added to the list, have them email LSE at lse@snc.edu.

LEADERSHIP LIBRARY
LSE's leadership library, accessible through the college library, holds many books on team building, leadership theory, organizational development and many other organization and leadership specific topics. Visit the LSE suite (Campus Center, Suite 330) to browse through the stacks.

LSE RESOURCE SERIES
The LSE resource series is a collection of over 30 one and two page handouts designed to provide information for organizational and individual development. Many of the resources have been adapted for this handbook; however, if you wish to share the information for group development, or need further information, use the resource series! Copies of all topics are available in the turnstile outside the LSE Office in the Ray Van Den Heuvel Family Campus Center on the third floor. For more information on the topics available, see the Campus Resource section of this handbook.

WORKSHOPS
Developmental workshops covering a wide range of interests are coordinated by LSE. Presentations on various topics such as delegation, how to run an effective meeting, communication skills, and team building through peer education are available through the Leadership Series. LSE's talented staff is also available to assist your organization in fulfilling a specific need or to facilitate discussions.
