Event Sponsoring Expectations

SNC Event Planning Website
Use the Event Planning Website.  It's got everything you need to have a successful program!

St. Norbert College Name Usage
As a recognized student organization, you may use “St. Norbert College” in conjunction with your programs, activities, and organization publicity. Using St. Norbert College’s name connects you with the College and the respectable image that must be upheld.

Hazing
In essence, hazing is defined as any act whether physical, mental, emotional or psychological, which subjects another person, voluntarily or involuntarily, to anything that may abuse, mistreat, degrade, humiliate, harass, or intimidate him or her or which may in any fashion compromise his or her inherent dignity as a person.

Alleged violations of the hazing policy should be reported to the Director of Leadership, Service & Involvement and the Campus Center, or the Vice President for Student Life. The individual’s identity will be kept confidential. Complaints may be made by any student, faculty, administrator, or outside individual who recognizes a hazing problem. Any violation of hazing regulation subjects an individual to disciplinary action, including possible suspension or expulsion from the College. In addition, the offender may be subjected to any applicable criminal statutes defined by Wisconsin law (such as reckless endangerment, assault, manslaughter, etc.).

Off Campus Events
All organizations that sponsor an off campus event (includes dinner dances, mixers, field trips, etc.) must complete an online off campus event registration. This is available on the SNC planning site. The online form asks for basic information about your event. Once you submit the form, it goes to your LSI liaison, who then reviews it and responds by email or phone. The response will include an approval or possible further review request or prior action detailed regarding certain aspects of the event. Failure to register your event may leave your organization exclusively liable should something unfortunate happen. Protect yourself!

Judicial Process
If your organization violates institutional policy, you may need to go before the College Community Relations Board (CCRB) with the violations. If this happens, your organization could be subject to an administrative warning, social probation, deferred suspension, or even revocation of your recognized status.

Finances
Your organization is expected to be fiscally responsible whether you have a checking account, a college account, or a cookie jar. Don’t financially obligate your organization until you have the money in hand. Debt is not tolerated, and could result in loss of organizational recognition and more if not rectified. The easiest way to avoid this is to pay your bills on time, and be sure you know how much you have at all given times.

Activities During Finals
St. Norbert College is an institution of higher education and the academic process is key to collegiate success. Keeping this in mind, all co-curricular activities, including student organization events, programming activities, intramural and club sport activities, and intercollegiate athletic events shall not be scheduled after midnight the last class day of each semester. The exception may be post season tournament participation by an intercollegiate athletic team.
