Governing, programming and media organizations are organizations that serve the general student body. Officer status of members is often through an election or hiring process, but volunteer membership is open to the general student body. Not only is involvement in these organizations a great contribution to the college, but it's an excellent training ground for post-graduation jobs. Volunteering in one of these organizations also gives you a step up when competing with other candidates for a leadership position within the organization.
