Registration: Courses Abroad
Actual registration for your study abroad courses depends upon your
program. In most instances, you will not register until you arrive on
site. However, there are a few programs that do allow pre-registration. Once you finalize your courses for the semester, you must submit a St. Norbert College Course Declaration Form. The Registrar will process your form, and then send you an email outlining the transfer credit that you will be awarded.
If you experience troubles with your course registration abroad, do not panic. Be sure to communicate clearly with the program staff abroad. Also, remember these helpful tips:
- Consult your Course Approval Form (gold sheet). If needed, enroll in one of the many courses that you had pre-approved.
- Reference the list of pre-approved courses. If you are interested in taking a course that has been pre-approved for credit transfer, please contact the Registrar and your study abroad advisor.
- Contact the Registrar, the office that is responsible for transferring credits from abroad.
Transfer Credit
After submitting your Course Declaration Form, you will receive an email from the Registrar that clearly outlines how your courses will transfer back to St. Norbert. Remember, you must earn a "C" or higher to receive transfer credit. You will not be granted credit for courses in which you earn a
"C-" or lower. Please visit the Returnees page to learn more about the posting of your credit to KnightLine.
Do not forget to save your course descriptions, syllabi, notes, homework, exams, and contact information of your instructors, and please keep any course approvals obtained by email.
Registration: Your Next Semester at St. Norbert
During your semester abroad, you will conduct advisement with your academic advisor via e-mail. First, choose the courses that you plan to take the semester after your study abroad experience. Submit these courses to you advisor, and then he/she will send you your PIN. Look up your registration date and time, keeping the time difference in mind.
If you are unable to gain access or if time differences might prohibit registration, you need to send your schedule (with CRN's, course numbers, and sections) to your academic advisor. He/she will then forward your schedule to the Registrar for processing. Academic advisors do not have the ability to register you for your classes. If you have any questions about registration, visit the Registrar's website.
SNC Study Abroad Blog: Global Knights. Local Daze.
During the Fall 2011 semester, a group of 68 study abroad students began blogging about their study abroad experiences on the SNC Study Abroad blog, Global Knights. Local Daze.
You are encouraged to follow the new tradition. Submit your reflections to <studyabroad@snc.edu>. Your blog entry will then be posted on the SNC Study
Abroad blog. We have outlined a variety of topics
below which can be reflected upon in your blog. (No, you are not
permitted to simply describe your travels in each blog entry.) We
gladly welcome photos that will supplement your blogs.
