Toledo
The Toledo program is offered in collaboration with the prestigious Fundación de Ortega y Gasset Foundation and the University of Minnesota. This program for U.S. study abroad students is based in a converted 16th century convent where students will find all of their classrooms, a computer lab (the building is also wireless), administrative offices and a lounge.
*Students take a Spanish placement test upon arrival and then enroll in 5 classes (3 credits each). Every course in the SNC Spanish curriculum with the exception of SN 400 (capstone) is available in Toledo, along with GS 5, 10, 11 and GS 1 upper(spring only for GS 1 upper). In addition, students may elect to do a credit internship in lieu of one class. Most students on the program are from U.S. universities (University of Minnesota and Notre Dame University to name but two). All professors are native speakers of Spanish and all courses are taught in Spanish. Spring students who are linguistically capable may be eligible to take one or two courses at the Universidad de Castilla y La Mancha, which will afford them the opportunity to take classes with Spanish university students.
*Accommodations: SNC students live with families in the suburbs of Toledo, where they will receive 3 meals per day and have their laundry done for them. Students will be provided with a bus pass to get to school. The commute averages 30 minutes each way.
*Requirements: Students must have completed through SN 204, although it is recommended that students take 304 and 305 prior to attending. A GPA of 2.5 is required.
