March 14, 2008 Warning: Phishing Expedition We've received several queries about an e-mail "phishing" scam that's currently going around. "Phishing" is an attempt to acquire login, financial, or other personal information by sending e-mail that appears to come from a reputable source. In this case, the message has the subject: FINAL VERIFICATION OF YOUR EMAIL ACCOUNT and the message comes from EDU ACCOUNT UPGRADE TEAM. The message asks for e-mail username, password, and date of birth, and threatens to terminate the e-mail account if the recipient does not reply. This did NOT come from St. Norbert College. We would never solicit personal information in this way. Please do NOT respond to this query if you receive it. If you received this query and did reply, please change your password IMMEDIATELY.
